Has the excitement gone for you?

It may be because I haven't been on the forums much lately (been very ill) but the excitement about getting an RX8 seems to have gone all of a sudden and I'm in the stages of buyers remorse (is it really worth £23,500 to own this car?)

I think the problem is that the wait has just been too long and the excitement just couldn't be sustained for me. Anyone else feel the same?

Andy, sorry to hear that you have not been well. An illness and a depressively long wait is not good for body and sole. However, I am sure it will be worth it in the end. I have retained the assistance of two famous detectives in order to try and uncover some answers to our many questions!

Have to say, right now, I can barely muster intrest for a test drive (not that I've been offered one either, bleh, mazda suck).

If I wasnt so sick of my focus I may cancel - as there isnt anything else out there with 4 seats I want.

It's been like a marathon waiting this long, but we are into the home straight now and my RX-8 is only a matter of weeks away.

I am looking forward to it more than ever now ......

Sorry to hear you have been ill Andy, hope you have a speedy recovery.

I forgot to say that I am on a two week vacation starting thursday. Looking forward to this has kept me excited and helped break up the time. Really looking forward to getting back and finding a letter from Mazda awaiting me confirming my delivery date. Hopefully wouldn't be too long after I get back - can't wait!

Hi,

the car really worth 37.420 euros (in Spain), it's a very cheap car car in comparison with others...

I don't think the wait is too long, I ordered the car August and will be delivered November

for example I had to wait 8 months for my Audi A4 TDI Avant Quattro.... this is a long wait....

Actually, thats quite expensive. 37420 euros at 1.35 euros to the pound (you probably could get closer to 1.42) means that this car retails at £27,718 UKP. Thats more than I paid!

... and I will make no comment about ordering in August and getting in November either.
:D

However, its good for u to be back Andy. No I'm feeling upbeat - why? As I think Mark mentioned, we have got just over a month (max 2) to go now, we have a written apology from Mazda, and now that the general public are seeing the car, more and more preorders are being taken.

We made the right choice.

Yes, maybe, but this price is for the only version available in Spain the Hi Power with everything included (Nav, Bose, Xenon, Leather, etc.). If you buy with everything maybe the price will be aprox the same.

Also, there are a lot of differences between countries, I think in The Netherlands the same car as the spanish it cost more than 45.000 euros....

I am absolutely amazed! The UK spec car with all trimmings on it is cheaper than this - I cannot believe it!

Yes, you're right

Hi Power UK --> 22.000 UKP
Leather --> 1.200 UKP
NAV --> 1.500 UKP

Total --> 24.700 UKP = 35.321 euros (1UKP=1,43 euros)

That means that your UK version is 2.099 euros cheaper, you're lucky :D

(This maybe is due to production costs, higher for Japanesse maker to make left steering wheel...)

You think you are getting this car for cheap ? Then check out the Greek price:

39.900E

The only country where cars are more expensive than Greece must be Denmark.....but they get about 2-3 times bigger salaries than the poor Greek chaps :o

Talking Still excited ? Oh yes

Firstly the important part - hope you're feeling better.

As for car excitement - well I've been as annoyed as anyone about the delays. Annoyed that I'm now trying to sell a convertible sports car in November. Annoyed at the lack of communication. Frankly, just annoyed !

Then last Thursday I had a test drive. I am now counting the minutes till November as Christmas will be early this year.

This car is an absolute blast to drive, and I can't wait to get mine. Sure, having it to drive this Summer would have been better, but getting it in November will just have to do. We're planning a family weekend doing some grand touring for as soon as it's here.

Seeing the car????????

quote:

"now that the general public are seeing the car, more and more preorders are being taken".

Where are these general public getting to see the car? I have been trying since last August to get other than a glossy brochure from Mazda dealers. Even to the extent of watching these posts, locating dealers with vehicles to test drive etc. When eventually I happened to be near Newbury on Saturday, I got to the showroom just after closing only to find that the spaces in the showroom, presumably for the RX-8's was empty. Trust a salesman to want to pose in the car for the weekend rather than leave it to be gawked at by potential customers. Cannot say I blame him, but I was gutted.

Here in Essex, 2nd week in October is going to be the earliest I can get a sighting of the vehicle and even that is with the leverage of knowing the owner of the dealership.

Only other dealer in the area has poor reputation and tells even bigger porkies than most. Like, "we will have one to test drive in two weeks" and that was six weeks ago. I am sure that was just to keep my interest, but I for one would prefer to be told the truth ie. we do not know when to expect delivery of a demonstrator but will call you immediatley we do. Some hope!

First of you guys out there to get delivery there is a cup of tea waiting for you when you arrive in Southend. Which of you is going to be the first to join the cruisers along the seafront. I want to be there to see the faces of all the Saxo, Clio brigade, many of whom must have spent close to £22k on their cars and still have just a Saxo or Clio.

I would also include the Scooby drivers of whom there must be a gathering of 30 to 40 on a good summer evening. All with the same exhaust note, all wheel spinning away from the speed humps over a standing 50th. of a mile

Anybody know the collective noun for a gathering of Scooby's? 'Gaggle' perhaps or even a 'cacophony', and how about a 'Colt' of RX-8's.

Colt - Colt45 - Revolver - Rotary!!!!!!!!

Sorry! Getting silly now.

Harrizone - my dealer has never suggested he can get an early demo and has been as true to his word!

Mike - Yes you and thanks. It's always interesting to see who is buying the 8 after a test drive and what car they are coming from. I tend to take more note of those who come from other sport cars as opposed to the Escort owners for obvious reasons.

Harrizone

This is where I got the info from

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=11372

or specifically the second post from deskjet640c

"Congratulations Murphy,

My wife was as excited as me when I ordered one last weekend

Suprised about your delivery date though. My dealer said that Mazda were advising them to tell customers that the second shipment would not arrive until March, even though he hoped it would be Feb. I hope your dealer was right with his Jan prediction, that would be fantastic.

My dealer would not be pushed on any deals on the car - fair enough I suppose, since the salesman I dealt with had taken orders for 11 RX8's himself that day"

Like I have mentioned before, it is only since I joined this forum I realised how unbelievablely lucky I was to get to test drive both the cars on the same day. This was Hodgson Mazda of Newcastle-upon-Tyne last Saturday. I just turned up out of the blue to have a look at a RX-8. I didn't even know they hadn't even entered the country yet. The reason for this being there is a Red one driving around the Toon already.

There was a red 5 spd and a Tit 6 speeder. Told the salesman I was very very interested and I took the red one out for a drive within half an hour cos everyone had booked to drive the HP. He told me to come back in an hour cos he expected a elderly couple were not going to use their full alloted half hour booking. Came back, as he said, and drove the HP.

I can't believe that some of you pre-pre-order guys haven't managed to get a drive yet Surely there can't be many of you?

I'm going to stop moaning about having to wait till March to get my car now. *humbled*

Like you, I have my up and down days BUT ......

It is going to be soo soo cool driving round in my rotary 1.3 litre that kicks **** in November ....

and ... the chances of seeing others in the same on the road will be minimal ....

The special elite ... not like the S2000's, the TT's, the boxsters, the 3 series etc etc .

Even if (sorry when) this car takes off, Mazda haven't geared up for mass production, so our residuals will be great and the unique aspect will endure

So, despite the fact that my next door neighbour went out at the weekend and bought a £30,000 Audi A4 cabriolet just because they knew I was waiting for my new car ... I'm still feeling pretty good!! I'll see him off on the road
