2) Today, there is down to earth article in Phileleftheros
3) We will form an OFFICIAL Cyprus Club so that members can joint. We will register it OFFICIALLY in Cyprus. And currently Louis is the reponsible person. Effort is getting done, in addition to Giorgos in Nicosia, to have responsible people in every city.
4) We are in the process to have an OFFICIAL website for this effort. I am working on the logistics to set it up and we have already one RX-8 owner in the IT industry willing to be the Fascillitator/Operator of the site as this requires hard and continued work (Constantinos). This website will be the Official Voice of the Official RX club
5) It goes without saying that the website will have numbers like 1308 (so that Mr. Kolettas and his people at last may be able to memorize correctly the capacity of RX rotary engines). The RX will be used so that can combine RX7/RX8 owners as we are on the same boat.

The war, just started and it is NOT simply just to go to court.

Need to be united and create first of all OFFICIAL STATUS and establish PERFECT COMMUNICATION between the members.
Great job by Giannhs, also i would like to inform you that today there is another article on Phileleytheros,on page 30 which shows a minor retriet from Mr.Kolettas who says at the end : "It's all up the court of law to decide " ...Here it is :

The EU legislation is regarding emissions
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/Notice.do?m...ty%7EWANKEL%7E

Copying the relevant for rotary engines part (the below is reffering to the way you refer to an engine in relation to the emissions calculation and approvals - nobody said that the engine capacity itself should be altered) :

5. "engine capacity" means either of the following:
(a) for reciprocating piston engines, the nominal engine swept volume;
(b) for rotary piston (Wankel) engines, double the nominal engine swept volume;

5. "ικανότητα κινητήρα":
α) για τους κινητήρες παλινδρομικού εμβόλου, ο ονομαστικός πληρούμενος όγκος του κινητήρα·
β) για τους κινητήρες περιστρεφόμενου εμβόλου, το διπλάσιο του ονομαστικού πληρούμενου όγκου του κινητήρα·

Latest update from the signature collection in Limassol.

Giorgos said that we have around 50 signatures so far and he's expecting few more in the coming days.

At the moment we have 48 signatures for Nicosia and we have today's meeting yet to be done ...I dont know whether Limassol is on the same numbers but last time i heard 2 days ago it wasn't ..Let's hope things are getting better though signatures is just a piece of the puzzle..It's just a good start point.Nothing more..The first piece of signatures was already faxed to the lawyer ...

We all understand that the signatures will not be the deciding parameter for this but it is still very important as it shows
a) how much people care and come to contribute
b) the ability to spread out the news and make people aware of the issue.
It is very helpful to the ones having no involvement with computers/internet , as they can get the latest updates/news.

last but not least, guys.... I'm not trying to start any kind of competition here and I hope nobody took it like this....
All I'm checking is if we managed to pass the message to all the people , if people are aware of what is been played behind around backs and if people are willing to spend some time to join the fight against this riduculous legislation.

I think that is a good idea to renew it as it is say that the car is 1308cc but never shut up because the officiel have to lear about rotary engines and also is i good time for all the RX owners of Cyprus to learn about the club and to group them all together!!!

Yea you are right we should not shut up because we will have the same problem next year, and a group must be established as you said.

This should be solved in this couple of months

I do support to issue the road tax as long as it is the SAME amount with the last year's.

is a headache less, in case this story will go far... at least we on the 'legal' side and have no issues with the police.

Hello again....

Antreas from Limassol....
I didn't sign yet but I am willing to the next days....
As a surprise i too renew the driving licence today via the internet and it was only 56 euros....
We all should continue this protest because as a friend said previously they will remember this issue next year....
If we all renew we will have another proof that it is a 13 and not 26...

Don't stop

Guys,
can you still renew the road tax from the site www.jccsmart.com ??

I renewed mine yesterday morning and today I tried to do it for a cousin of mine, but I get an error - ony for his RX8. Any other car I tried it seems to work fine...

Shall I think that they realized their mistake and they removed the RX8s from the renewals ?

hey guys

i also pay my road tax yesterday for 61 euro.

1) For those they already payed i called the police and they told me that they can't do anything about it and we are good till the end of 2010.

2) For the rest of you guys who didn't made it on time don't pay anything and we all gonna continue the fight together.

if we stay united is no way we loose

Hey guys, sorry I havent been around for a while been back in the UK for a few days. Have I missed anything??? I see the Cyprus forum is up a working, first of all well done to all involved. The only trouble is I cant read whats going on so if anything big comes up over the next few months will you let me know, Thanks.

Seems as though the government has taken heed and given some of us the 56 euros tax. Managed to get mine at that price so I am happy, for this year at least, as had been said previously, we cannot allow them to change it for next year. Maybe, we still need to persue this. Hopefully it will be resolved in our favour.

Sorry to spoil the happiness but as expected with every goverment office they forgot to update their system, therefore whoever managed to login on Monday and renewed the road tax got it with the proper amounts. On Tuesday they pulled out all the RX8/RX7 cars and today they have again working with the unreasonable amounts.....
In addition to that, whoever called them yesterday to complain that cannot issue his/her road tax got the above explanation along with a comment that the ones who 'tricked' them on Monday will receives notices to pay the difference...

No need to say that they are ridiculous...

with all these I started thinking what will be the implication to file a law suit against them...for those mountains they build in every second street and they call them speed bumps....or all those think lines of paint shaking the car like an 8 richter earthquake...

Guys this is an article from phileleftheros 13/1/2010
