Insurance

Not officially...
I did read in one of the many reviews I am collecting that insurance is expected to be group 15 or 16.
That struck me as very low for a 240BHP car... but then my current car is exceptionally high for what it is !
Currently I am paying at group 18 insurance so it cannot get much worse - I am expecting about the same as currently.
If you get any official steer please let me know - I doubt you will though. Mazda cannot give info on the car so I do not expect insurance companies to be aware yet .

I'm new to all this, so please bear with me.
Ordered my RX-8 on 13th January, chose the low power (still 189ish Bhp) cus of cash and insurance.
The high power (as well as the extra bhp) comes with Xenons which my dealer said would put it up a couple of insurance groups over the low power, due to front end collision expense apparently??
My partner being only 27 is also an issue. Hoping around Group 15 ish. Hopefully, Mazda Insurance Services will provide some assistance as well

I think you are the only 'Low Power' I have seen in the Europe forum....
I wonder if you may have made a good decision for everyday driving - I believe the low power actually has more torque than the high power version ! V.useful.
Any idea what the fuel consumption difference will be ?
M.
PS - Amused to note scooby owners worried about fuel consumption of RX8. Scooby is horrible innefficient on fuel ! Great car and all , awesome performance , but efficiency is dire !
I am anticipating ~25MPG from RX8. Thoughts ?

Im hoping for an improvement in insurance and fuel to be honest.
My Scoob is group 20 and averages 19mpg on SUL. My last two tanks have been averaging around 17mpg as I have been 'giving it some' lately. That's under 200 miles on a tank
I still love it though, and have mixed feelings going to the RX8.
