Alright Lads,
nice to see a few RX8 outside of Dublin too...would ye be interested in coming to Dublin way for a meetup...would be deadly to have a convoy of RX8's down the M1 some weekend
Am I the only pretending to be rich bastard with and '08 then?
irishdesolo - yeah, I like to run a clean shop...the velocity red looks marvellous when its squeaky clean...sex on wheels! Seeing we are so close we should definitely hook up for a pint after work of something...will PM you my cellphone.
Ah, I scratched me feckin' rear alloy the other day...not a happy camper what so ever! Anybody know a good body shop in Dublin?

Lads how about we all meet in Abbeyleix? Imagine an Rx-8 convoy up the M50!
Do any of ye have the boot lip spoiler on your 8? I was talking to Tom in Mazda Clonmel and he said that Mazda don't make them.
They are on nearly every UK import 8 I have seen.
JDM make it and it can be bought on www.mazdaparts.com but at a high price for a bit of moulded whatever-it's-made-from!
Give me a shout if any of ye are ever in Thurles!

Hi EinHeisserSchrei,
maybe Portlaoise would be a better place to meet. Then head down the M7 after that....? I only have the standard boot lip spoiler, not sure if its the one you are on about...link?
Craig, what exactly is happening up in Kirkistown? Might come up for a look...
Hit me back, cheers!

Akay, here's a link to what I'm talking about
http://www.mazdaparts.com/ProductDet...000-1151625382
As you can see it's fairly expensive for a bit of a spoiler and it's not even made by Mazda!

kirkistown iis a race track. the fastest track in ireland i think.
Its a full day track for for rx8/rx7 owners and friends. Its £75 on the 1st of august. there is about 13 rx8s coming and the same about of 7s, plus a couple of other to make up numbers. still have spaces available. its advertised on
www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum
www.irishrotary.com/forum
There is a petrol station a mile away from the track. You need to bring your own crash helmet. Track day insurance is not required.
Things you should know:
Track is hard on front brakes and front passenger tyre

Have my Rex only a month now...... I've spotted you a few times EinHeisserSchrei.... ur out near the racecourse?? Mine's the Black 231PS with the black/red leather, had the the blue one u might hav seen around but sold it cos I wanted the black one. Hav to say though even though I prefer the black one the ladies really did prefer the blue one!! For some reason though when u look at pic on the net the blue one never looks well but in person its a really good colour. I think its the seats that make the black one, the black red leather is class!! Hav to sell my black one now cos I'm buying a site Anyone interested in a 04 for the ridiculous price of 18500???
The one thing I do know is that as soon as I can afford it I'll be back behind the wheel of a Rex again!!

Sold the 8!! It had 45k on it. Sold for just over 18k in the end. Still a bit short for paying for the site so thinking of bringing over another before the rules change on July 1st.... looking at a red 231PS with all the trimmings and 26mths extended warranty left!!! 39k miles. If I sell that for 18500 again I'll be slightly less broke!!! Or I might .... might.... be able to keep this one!! Although prob not, I'd say it'll be 18 months before I can get one for myself, hopefully I'll get a 07 or so then.

Alright lads!!
Just to put you all wide! I live in the Dublin area and while away on holidays last week I left the RX8 outside the mother in laws house.
Anyhow her house was broke in to by someone looking for the keys for the RX8. These guys were pros, they took out the sitting room window with out breaking it, (they used gloves) and then they went through the drawer in the hall leaving a wallet, a blackberry and the keys to a 07 seat toledo.
Reckon they were spooked by something cos there was no reason why they didn’t go upstairs, I still can’t believe they just passed up everything else!!
So be careful guys RX8’s are on someones shopping list!! Also might be worth your while leaving your keys out cos the Guards were telling stories of people who woke up with these thieving scumbags standing over them with kettles of boiling water asking calmly for the keys to the car!
Anyway just a word of warning for you all!!

Mazda in Ireland do not employ "rotary engine mechanics". With not enough rotary engined cars on the roads in Ireland a rotary only mechanic would soon starve to death if he/she was depending on us for a living.
I don't know of any rotary engine mechanic in Ireland but I do trust these guys at 'The Tuning Factory' http://www.tuningfactory.ie/contact%20us/contactus.htm
Although well known for their Vtec expertise they are really very good at all Japanese cars including the RX-7 and RX-8. They have been all over my RX-8 with fitting the extras etc. and I can vouch for their professionalism.
Also try asking at 'The Irish Rotary Owners Club' http://www.irishrotary.com/forum/phpBB2/portal.php somebody there might know of a "rotary engine" expert.
Oh I almost forgot, why do you need a “rotary mechanic”?
PS.
Try here: Rotorworks Automotive
Cido business complex
Portadown
County Armagh
Northern Ireland
contact Glen on 07835 439 347 (00447835 439 347)
Yeh I know that is in Northern Ireland.

I can't find the list of tax bands which relates to this.
I do know that the RX-8's CO2 emissions are 284g/km which makes it fall into the final band of tax which is €2000 a year.
This even applies to models built and registered after 1st July 2008, not just the new facelifted model.

Here is a link to the new Irish motor tax bands and also this site has all the info on VRT,
http://www.irishvrt.ie/irish-motor-t...motor-tax.html
The new motor tax bands apply to all vehicles registered and/or imported after the 1st of July '08.
I think I can say goodbye to a new RX-8. with €2,000 tax per annum. Ireland will become the diesel engine capital of Europe. I just hate those smelly noisy crappy engines, best suited to trucks and buses

I was REALLY looking forward to purchasing the 2009 RX8, but with that price tag for JUST freaking road tax, NO WAY! Even if its just a matter of principal
