No matter how refined they will tell you a diesel is, it will still sound like an old delivery van when you start it up.

No matter what power and torque figures they give you, it will only deliver a brief burst of oomph just before you have to change gear.

The only reason you think you out accelarating other drivers is the great big cloud of black smoke you bletch out any time the load pedal is touched, has scared and/or chocked those behind you.

Do you really want to be filling up from the dirty black pipe, along with Mr Butt Crack the builders van, and Mr Beardy Wierdy brown estate driver?

A diesel jag - the only thing you'll be pulling away from is other people laughing.
