OK guys, we have a reply from our joint email a week or so ago. Most of us have already ordered now, but there is some interesting info.

This line particularly stood out:

"If you receive a vehicle from the first customer boat, you can expect to take delivery in August."

I was hoping for earlier in July. To be honest, if its August then I may wait for Sept 01, though it will kill me!

It is fantastic to hear that so many of you have placed pre-orders, I hope you are all as exited about receiving the car as we are!!

I have endeavored to answer your queries as best I can, but please do not hesitate to contact me with further queries. I am out of the office frequently but will always respond as soon as I am able.

1) what is the allocation procedure for those of us who have already placed
a £1000 deposit? Will we be guaranteed our cars will be in the first batch?

Yes - The pre-order process was switched on last Friday and dealer orders (i.e. the orders you have already placed) have priority.

2) Can you confirm all the trim/colour combos available in first batch? Can
you also explain why we have a restricted choice unlike the US and other
European countries, and when the other colours will be available?

At launch, we were able to order only four colours:

Velocity Red
Titanium Gray
Sunlight Silver
Brilliant Black

As this vehicle has an enormous worldwide demand, in order to be able to produce the numbers we require there has to be some simplification of the production process.

3) When will we receive confirmation of our order and how will we be kept
informed of our car's progress?

Mazda Motors UK will be contacting you regularly with updates. You can expect to receive these on a monthly basis.

4) What is the ETA of first batch into the UK? (We are led to believe July),
and how many cars in total are coming into the UK in 2003?

Unfortunately I do not have final production numbers for 2003 as yet. If you receive a vehicle from the first customer boat, you can expect to take delivery in August.

5) Will there be any cars or colour swatches in the UK available for viewing
before we have to confirm our orders? (Possibly the press car(s)?)
It is very difficult to decide upon colour choices when we haven't actually
seen the colours in the flesh, particularly with Velocity Red as this is a
new colour.
(We are prepared to travel if necessary if something could be made
available)

The dealers will have paint chips shortly.

6) Can you give us an approximate timetable of events taking us up to the UK
launch?"

Unfortunately I cannot at the moment, it is too early in the day.

7) Can you advise when a full options/accessories and price list will be
published?

We would not expect to have these available until around July time. As far as I am aware accessories are still in process.

hmmm.... I specified ASAP for delivery.
Although the reg plate thing really does not matter to me - if it is only 2 weeks then maybe better to wait....

Guess we need to wait for those communications !
