Roof rack?
Is anyone aware if it will be possible to fit a roof rack to the RX8, it would appear that there are gutter lines on the roof could these be for this reason?

Try squeezing a couple of mountain bikes in the boot, not going to happen. Since owning the RX-7 they have been neglected and need to venture further a field!
More than valid reason I feel, anyway whats the answer yes or no?

Thanks to zoom44 for a positive response to my request, sounds promising if the ski rack is a possiblity.
rx8girlracer, the rack would be for mountain bikes which would definitely not fit in the boot!!

Here's the reply I got from one of the UK's leading roof rack suppliers:
"Thank you very much for your recent email. Thule do not presently make a roof bar application for the RX 8 and I am afraid that I don't know whether one is planned for the future.
Yours sincerely"
I'm going to have to catch the train if I want to transport my MTB, which is very naff indeed when you've an 8 in your driveway!!!

I'm hoping Thule do eventually produce some feet so I can convert my current setup. Looks like it will be easy to do, given the freestyle doors -- much better than my current setup with a coupe where the brackets get pushed in between the window and window trim on the back windows.

Got the first responces back form one of the mentioned companies, Yakima. They make a roof rack. I copied the email for you all to see. I'll update again when I hear from the other companies.
"Hi Michael. Thanks for your inquiry about Yakima Products!
We do have a roof rack system for the RX-8. To install it, you'll need a set of Q Towers, two pairs of Q60 clips, and a pair of 48" crossbars. The system has a weight limit of 165 lbs., but has some limitations because of the size of the roof. I've placed the measurements and fit notes for the installation below. If you have any other questions, please contact Customer Service at 888-925-0703 7am to 5pm Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. If you reply to this email, please include all previous correspondence.
Thank you,
Yakima Support
M1: 36 7/8
M2: 6
M3: 36 7/8
M4: 28
Notes:
102. Surf/Sailboard length limited to 10' or less on this application.
103. Kayaks must be carried with HullyRollers, LandShark, Mako saddles, HullRaiser on this application.
104. Canoes must be 14' or less on this application.
112. The sunroof should not be opened while the rack is installed. Remove rack when not in use.
114. Caution! Check clips after installing. Grab each clip and try to pull them hard away from your vehicle. If the clip moves tighten the adjustment post. If the clip still moves, recheck your measurements between the towers and adjust if necessary. Check clip again."
This is the best roof rack company in my opinon.
