test drive

I had my first test drive today.
I'm not going to do another review because its been done to death and some of you guys have youe cars!

But suffice to say that I was very impressed, not least with the supposed 'lack of torque'

its a fabulous drivers car and I envy the guys who have theirs.

My dealer is hopeful for a pre-crimbo delivery and I can't wait.

its every bit as I hoped and maybe more.

cheers

Ken

Us pre-orderers did take hell of risk buying a totally new car on the basis of a spec and few pictures, before the cars had gone in to production. I'm not just talking about the deposit (which was refundable apart from £100), but rather we've spent up to a year building our hopes up about the car. As someone said, we've spent so long fanatising about it, it would have to fly not be a disappointment.

It doesn't fly (well apart from off that humpback bridge over the railway track ), but a disapointment - never, the car is better than even my wildest fantasies, and I dont think I'm alone in that oppinion.

So now I can deny I bought it on blind faith, and claim I had excellent judgement from the start. If only my judgement on financial investments was as good!

Cheers
---Dave

My comments re: a review are the same as kennyboy1215.

I've got 12 days to go but had my first drive last week, nothing but praise so far.

cheers

ordered early August. was initially quoted Feb/March so it's a nice surprise to get it early, however, the later dates were fine with me as I have some complex financial stuff to sort which I'm now having to sort early as I won't be able to function knowing my car is available.

24 hours after my test drive and the car refuses to leave my head.

In reply to the other chaps who responed to my thread, I'm not an Aussie (as if 'crimbo' is native to them!)

I only started to consider buying a new car in about July...and my car of choice was a Saab 9-3 Aero. (still think they are a cracking car)
Then one day I was thumbing through 'What Car' and there it was.....I had never even heard of an RX-8 before then!
Two days later, having read all I could on the net, I pre-ordered.

And I'm bloody pleased I did

cheers,
Ken

I test drove a 93 Aero - really thought I would love it...but the thing that really disappointed me was the 1st gear change (felt like you had to put it in second after 20ft...also the turbo whine got on my wick...
