Jayz, my dealer is already willing to relieve my wallet of more cash to add privacy glass to the car, through a local window tinter. Expect it to cost in the region of £300 (still TBC).

It presumably comes with some sort of mild tint. I will probably get a darker tint if the costs makes sense.
I am very much hoping that the dealers will 'deal' on these extras considering the time delays etc, also because people could just walk away from the cars if they wished.

I would like to have the tinted glass but have been put off by the recent story in the press regarding one of the welsh police forces (i think) handing out tickets to those with tint above a certain level. Apparently there is a law in the UK which precludes deeply tinted glass. Basically those who have been ticketed must return the glass to the legal requirement. Its probably covered by the same law tries to prevent me having a tinted visor on my bike helmet even in the fiercest glare. Only difference is that if i get pinged by the rozzers, its only £20 odd to replace a visor!

what about react - to - lite screens?
Like the telescopes i wear now.
They darken in our out of the car so technically it shouldnt make a difference if the windscreen did the same but im sure some legal boffin will have contradict the argument.

The rules on glass tinting apply to the windscreen as far as I recall.
You can have blacked out side and rear windows, but only a light tint on the windscreen.
That has always been the rule.
But if the side and rear are really dark, it makes the windscreen look dark as well as there is very little light penetration into the car.

I believe the law restricts the level of tint on all the front windows (windscreen and both front door windows). This is because the driver cannot have reduced visibility when pulling out from junctions. You can have the back as dark as you like.
Would be nice to find out if the factory tint on the front windows is as dark as we can go.

I wouldnt trust anything in a J-Spec car, hell this is the country that brought you in car DVD players/TV while you drive.
Playstations in the drivers console for those days stuck in traffic.
Think the issue of tinted windows is a bit of irony.
Last time in Tokyo (August 2001 - earthquake time) i needed incontence pants, the cars over there have so many gadgets in the dashboard they dont look where they are going. Its as if they have autopilots in their cars. They watch tele play games whatever other than drive the flamin car.
