Unhappy Uk Owners Finance question

Hi Guys

I've been luking in this forum for a couple of weeks and found it very interesting to read.
I really want to change my MX5 for the RX8 but probably wont happen until next year at the earliest. I went to see my local dealer this week and talk some figures with him, just to see if it was possible this year('cos the forum has made me so want one) and got a bit of a shock.
The finance deal on offer was pretty poor and I am looking at £540 a month to get into one of these beauties. That's more than my mortgage and double my current MX5 finance.

I wondered if anyone else on here would be willing to discuss the deals they had got (if financed) or how the dealers have looked at their trade-ins for future dates.

The Guaranteed Future Value on this car was only around £8000 after 3 yrs which part explains the high monthly payment. (Hi Power with Leather and metallic) He also explained that I would only get bottom book price for my current car whereas against any other mazda I would get up to £1800 more as a trade-in.

All of which means that it will be next year before I can park my new RX8 in my driveway.

Finance is on an openplan mortgage, quick easy and cheap.

You should be able to get a 7.x% rate for balance between the MX-5 and RX-8 at least.

Mazda garages have already stated (to several people) that you'll get minimal - dealer/book proce for any trade in. You'll be much better selling privately, and an MX-5 as everyone knows is a great reliable car, will sell better in summer, but theres plenty of them on the market.

Odd, are they suggesting that they will give a £1800 less than normal part exchange price because it is a MX5? Why less for the 5?

No - less because it is an RX8 !
My dealer told me the same thing.

RX8 fixed price - no margin for clever stuff.
Therefore trade in only books at trade.

In actual fact this is always true , but they hide it by never having a 'fixed' price on the car. i.e. normally the price on the screen is not the price you pay. The RX is - so no negotiation.
Oddly - i prefer this....

Seems extremely high. I have managed to get a quote for the exact same spec for under £350 a month, with a GFV of just under the £11000 bracket.

Was on a 3 year plan, without maintenance, 15000 miles a year and a £5000 deposit.

*Edited to add that the quote also included GAP and Termination Insurance, so if at any time I couldn't pay the amount required, I could hand the car back with no penalties and no marks on my credit.

I know that this thread came first, but this
thread

https://www.rx8club.com/europe-forum-36/how-do-you-intend-pay-rx-8-a-5427/

is handling the general topic of finance.

So I'll close this one.
