AccessPORT EURO Version Now Available
Custom Calibrations are now available for those that have purchased their AccessPORT from another vendor.
The Cobb AccessPORT allows the RX-8 PCM to be modified to accommodate for a wide variety of modifications and operating conditions, including FORCED INDUCTION.
The AccessPORT is the most user friendly reprogramming device for your vehicle's computer. The provided mapping will optimize the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing, remove the speed limiter, and more for performance results you can instantly feel!
But the AccessPORT is so much MORE than just a REFLASH DEVICE. It allows you to monitor your Fuel Economy (average and real time), perform performance tests in order to estimate your 0-60mph and 1/4 mile time, read and decipher ECU trouble codes (CELs), and monitor live data via the OEM vehicle sensors which eliminates the need for costly and cluttering aftermarket gauges!
This new updater also updates your dongle to the newest firmware, so have it connected the the AccessPORT when you install.

Once installed, run the AccessPORT Updater and it will automatically check for new versions of both the updater utility and the AccessPORT firmware for their AccessPORT model.

- Increased idle speed (830 RPM typical - up to 1100 for the Pettit S/C)
- Increased OMP output in all load ranges
- Lower cooling fan turn on points
- Improved low-gear throttle response
- Lean fuel targets for light throttle and cruise conditions
- Removal/cancellation of all or any emissions-related CELs

We had them installed on a couple of car here in italy and all i can say is that Jeff is really fast to reply and help with all of the small problems that you can encounter during the install (mostly for instruction misunderstandings).
My car configuration hasn't got much to do with the accessPORT itself
Performance and fuel economy depend on multiple factors anyway like the condition of your catalyzer, of your ignition coil and air\fuel filters.
If your car has got a high fuel consumption because of any of these i'm afraid that it won't get much better with a retune. If everything is in good working order then you can expect an increase in performance and mpg!
You can expect an increase anyway but it is important to have the car in perfect order to me.
I'm sure tha Jeff will be able to tell you way more, and there are some good threads out there too!

2 Ap bought from Jeff, one for me and one for a friend.
While installing a flash on my EUdm car the accessPORT returned a communication error and went into recovery mode. Now i can't flash my car or disintall AP because of that communication error, even after the update of the ap's firmware to the latest beta release. I checked twice all the calbles but everything is fine. This is the biggest problem.
The dongle of the other access port simply doesn't work. It is not cut or broken but it won't power the unit.
Still waiting an answer from Jeff after more then 2 weeks and 4 mails...

I've answered your e-mails every time. I don't think you are getting them.
You need to contact Cobb directly. They can tell you what you need to know.
I have only seen one legitimate dongle failure. Every other time it has been some sort of user error.
Hopefully they will be able to resolve it for you quickly.

If i made an installation error how can the AP found the car and finished the "backup" of the ECU? The communication error come out when AP started reflashing my car, not before...
Right now, everytime i connect AP to my car, this error comes out and i cannot proceed or disinstall it. If you have seen every sort of users errors you should know what happened to mine.

Cannot communicate with vehicle.
please verify cable is plugged in securely
then turn ignition key off then back to on position.
cables are ok, i've tried several times changing usb cables and dongles, i've also tried to move my ecu on another rx8 and connect AP to this car but the error keeps coming on.
What seems strange is the fact that AP found my car, model and year, finished the back up session (100%) and just then gave me the error code, while starting the reflash session...
Right now, everytime i connect AP, the error comes out and i cannot proceed/disinstall it! (i updated it to the last firmware beta version yesterday)
NOONE IS ANSERING MY E-MAILS AND IS MORE THEN 20 DAYS I HAVE A CAR STOPPED IN THE GARAGE...

All you need is an RMA number. Just call them (801-713-0035), get the number, fill out the RMA form (http://www.cobbforums.com/forums/images/RA_2.4.pdf) and send it back.
They will send you a new one.
Its that simple.
As far as "noone is happy with the service, noone is receiving answers, noone is receiving calibrations paid", I'd be careful with your use of "no one".
You might be in that situation and for that I'm sorry. You have been given instructions on what to do and need to follow them.
The rest of the European customers and not in the same situation as you.

jeff, I have business too, i work in construction. In Italy law provides that: if you do not respect the time established by a contract you have a penalty clause and for every single day of delay they will deducted part of your gain. How does it work in America? i just have to wait hoping someone will answer me? I do not want to be argumentative but i'm expecting assistance from 50 days!
Why should i have an international call when the same things can be done using e-mails? i already wrote to COBB even if i bought AP from you and not from them but noone gave me an RMA number....

hmm, calling is probably the fastest path of resolution same with alot of companies, thats a toll free number(i think) so u can use a internet program like skype to call it for free if u have a head set

Oh really?
There have only been a small handful of improperly functioning units in the several hundred that I have sold and even fewer still were not user errors.
The 2 or 3 that have actually failed for hardware reasons were handled EXACTLY as noted above.

COBB finally discovered the cause of my problem and was not my fault!!!!!!!
this is the answer i received from Shayne:
First of all, thank you for your continued patience with us throughout this process. It is greatly appreciated.
We received your package and have put it in the hands of our engineers. After some extensive testing and research, they have concluded that your ECU has a unique program that we had not seen before. I believe they said it was "pre-production". Due to this, the AccessPORT was unable to properly identify your vehicle, thus causing the issues that you have encountered.
A new firmware has been developed and installed exclusively to your AccessPORT, which should solve the issue. According to the notes of the engineer, the next step would be to have you reinstall the ECU to the vehicle and see if the AccessPORT will properly install. He said, "...the best we can do is see if the AccessPORT runs his car with this new configuration since we don't have his car on hand. Regardless his AP should still uninstall in the event his car
doesn't run."
Jeff will need to create a new map that is suitable for your newly identified ECU. The map that he sent you already will not be selectable on the AccessPORT, as it was created for the wrong ECU

Bulldog, Jeff is a good person to deal with as far as I'm concerned. He has so many people hassling him on top of doing calibrations for others. He's a man, not a machine...Give him a break
