Series 1 to Series 2 tail light swap?...

I already posted this question before but not much info was given. I did do a search before you jump my ***... What needs to happen to swap tail lights? Would I need to swap rear bumpers as well?

yes.

there were several threads about this topic.
If you just swap the lights without the bumper, it won't look right. Also, swapping the lights requires cutting the sheetmetal, so it is not just a straightforward thing.

okay thank you...sorry 9k! I haven't had a chance to look at a 09 and up to see the difference. As a matter of fact there isn't too many people around here that have 8's. I know of 3 people and they are series 1.

Here is the best fitment I have seen but with quite a bit of custom modification.

I heard Mazda has a new engine in development called the 16X. Is it true?

Yup, its actually a trade up program. Trade in your motor and they give you the 16x.

I don't get doing a mod like this. series 2 lights aren't even that nice.. + intense labour and modification... not worth it. or crappy fitment.

but seriously... maybe a honda civic 2000 ebay light would fit? might need to bust open the jigsaw tho.

yaaa dig?!

I'm sure it would work much better if you swapped both the taillights and the rear bumper.
