They can't becos the 2 remote (original and retractable) cannot communicate!! Noemally the new remote must be able to detect the original remote freq(?) to clone. In this case, the retractable remote cannot detect anything!!!
He recommend doing it in Taiwan. They shld have more sophiscated machine hahaha. His machine comes from M'sia.

Bad news abt the key. Called up Autokey and speak to Kelvin abt the problem. He claim that MM cars may not come with the immobiliser and is not equip with RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) control module. Therefore the remote was not able to be programmed.
In the specs list of MM, it claims that the car comes with immobiliser !!
Think i will go down to Autokey and let them check it out.

U mean MM Rx8 may not comes with the mmobiliser?
Can double confirm and if it is true, we could take legal action against MM for giving false information.

Whats this remote keyless entry? My PI 8 dun have immobilizer as well; but the key and remote can be programmed without a glitch. Not sure what this RKE is....

I'm pretty sure the MM 8s have the immobilizer, but we could always check for sure by spending a few dollars to duplicate a key and try to start the engine with it.

As for the remote keyless entry control module, I'm confused... if our cars don't come with it, then how does our original Mazda remote lock/unlock the door then?? Hmm...

XtremeRev, doesn't sound like Kelvin at Autokey knows what he's talking about. All MM 8's come with immobiliser and keyless remote entry. It's something to do with the frequency of the unit that's different from the retractable key lock/unlock frequency, that's what is causing the issues here. Seems the retractable key can't be programmed with the same frequency as the standard remote so it doesn't work. The retractable key may still start the car, but only because it's able to bypass the immobilser.

Watoke, dun worry bro and no need to take legal action. Just look for the flashing red light LED in the instrumentation panel, that's the engine immobiliser in action

Genesis, i agree wif you. I spoke to my SE and he also made the same claim. I was also wondering if there is no RKE, than how were we able to use the default remote. I will go down to Autokey tomorrow to check it out. Thanks guys

Went down Autokey yesterday, they are not able to program the key. But he was convinced that the car came with immboliser The frequency of the remote dun match the original remote.... sigh.. looks like $300 is going down the drain.
EBS any updates from RX8garage.net?
