4speed or 6speed auto? to buy or not to buy

Mazda, LA issued a press release this month on the new Mazda Rx-8 2006. You should be able to search and find the press release. The 6-speed auto version is most likely to arrive at the earliest March 2006. Some say June 2006.

Most of the members in the Far East/Asia forum are from Singapore and it's a fairly congested city with moderate to heavy traffic most of the time. We don't have very many long highways and majority is city type driving, thus a higher number of automatic 8s. If not for our geographical location and size, and type of roads, I'm sure there will be a lot more of us owning manuals. Another factor is also the cost of the 6MT compared to the 4AT. Price difference can amount to somewhere in the region of about S$20K or US$12.3K or CA$14.1K.
Let me clarify that I am in no way putting down our neighbouring countries in the Far East/Asia region for not having more 8s/members in their respective country. I'm from Singapore so I can only list the possible reasons in my country.

I'm new here and am thinking of getting a RX8 too. I viewed a red one on Sunday afternoon at a Tagore Lane car dealer. It's probably from MM and pre-owned by a Mr Sham, I guess. Hope you guys can advise me if this car is an OK buy. It's reg. no. is SFR9**1R. Much obliged.

Just heard from World of Wheels, the 6spd AT will only be available for US market. So I don't think we'll be getting it here.
I have driven the 4AT RX-8, aNd if you are not a rev-head that likes to go all out, the AT is still a rather nice car to drive. I personally have been driving manuals, so it's preference vs convenience.
For 4AT, if a dealer is putting one up for sale secondhand, there is a good chance to test one.
For 6MT, another thread states that MM let's u test drive the RX-8 if you have 3yrs driving exp and are 28 and above.
At the end of the day, you have to like it. No point driving the manual and regret not buying the auto, or vice versa.
Last of all, is the price factor. The AT is approximately 95K or more and the 6MT is 115K.
