its actually quite an important issue and u wont believe it until u do it yourself.

Quoted by Japanese chaps that the actual bhp for the type S is only 200 bhp and the standard one is below 180 bhp. Believe it or not , try it yourself.

Japanese chaps as in here in Singapore?? or back in Japan?

By the way, the 250 that Mazda claims is at the crank as in at the Flywheels rite??

I remember this being discussed quite sometime ago...some Japanese magazine tested 212ps at the wheels for the Type S? Sounds abt right for the 250ps then.

Maybe EAST MOON can help provide any info? Calling EAST MOON!

Hi, Fab 8 and all
This site is FUJITSUBO
You can see Power data of the Japanese std(Standard) ver RX-8 (same my 8) on this site.

std ver RX-8's catalog-data is 210ps
fujitsubo's data......
Max Power [ std ] 127.0 kW (172.7 PS) / 8380 rpm
[fujitsubo] 130.1 kW (176.9 PS) / 8320 rpm

these guys from this particular japan company actually came down to one of the workshop for introductory on their modified ecu. They brought the dyno chart which they had tested in japan with and without the ecu. Result came out to be 200 bhp on the original type S and 213 bhp with the ecu. And my car which is a 210 bhp manual, came out to be 16+ bhp after dyno. This gave me a shock. How can it be such a great difference?
Anybody know anything about this ? Maybe from eastmoon or jason jt import . pls advice. Thanks.

Hi,
You talking about the "difference" of the data of Mazda, and other data?
uh--mm... I don't know about that.
some guys said....
dyno-data is not "one and only"...It is affected by the surrounding situation (temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc).
usually, dyno-data (that's the "shassi" or "shashi" dynamo) take at the wheels.
mazda (and other maker too) took it from the Flywheels.

This site is "dyno-GPrix" from Japanese car shop.

Can you find out 8's data?
his 8's power (maybe tha's std ver) is 183.3PS

Yowza! Those are some nasty lookin' numbers on that R33 GTR...669ps!

RX8_666, East Moon is right, the 200 bhp is taken at the wheels, which will have some transmission loss. Also not sure whether they disabled the DSC etc etc - Canzoomer did say that the RX-8 is very difficult to dyno.

Anyway, the 13 bhp increase sounds interesting. What abt torque? Any increases? BTW, care to share with us what brand of ECU is this and of course, how much???
