Hotter temps... As i understand, there is an issue with automatics overheating.... The automatics in the states actually come with 2 oil coolers (pls correct me if i am wrong). Some states in the US face high temperatures like ours thus this requirement.

yea thats right ...it should be ok for now to go on a long road trip or on 24 hr seca race mentioned....im just concerned abt long term reliability it can led to as heat is rotary's public enemy no 1! excess heat reduces your engine lifespan...and might also damage your wiring/sensor etc etc in the engine bay.

I 've also seen many threads here relating to heat issues...not only for autos also manual (those US 8s)...that what worries me a lot

Main failure for auto trans is heat. Most auto nowadays have their fluid partially cooled through the main radiator as well, however as we all know the radiator would be too hot to remove any significant amount of heat. Match that with a rotary engine and a elevated radiator position you get lots of heat soak that causes engine or trans failure.

Any owners out there who bought the car from Mazda get the cooler and radiator grill done? Is warranty really void if Mazda find out?

And.... the prove is my rear o2 sensor got melted & fckd up MAF sensor. I'd suggest we don't use the hood anymore LOL.

Guyzz... if u run out of cooking gas, u can cook the food in the engine bay hehehe. I still wondering why mazda locate the ECU under the hood...ecu box ventilation & it's cooler is not enough i think.

Chu Eu I think u better get a 3 layer aftermarket radiator man, from what I saw in Best Motoring the stock radiator is totally insufficient especially when our license plate is blocking the front. They test it for 20 minutes in endurance race, the water temperature overheated while oil temperature is ok. Yours being turbo, you know the rest...

Hmmm..since the transmission is depending on the main radiator im now also thinking of getting a separate trans cooler....

Water is the main fluid that conducts heat away not the coolant. The coolant is there just to assist in anti freezing and protect the radiator internals from corroding. That's why its not advisable to use just coolant in the radiator.

Either use a trans cooler if you can afford it or simply change your auto fluid if it smells burnt.

This is to inform that one of our member. sheVy is getting married by end of March. He'd like to invite all the rx-8 members to attend his wedding day, that means wedding convoy too. Below are the programs:-

31/3/2006 (Friday) Morning : Convoy to bridegroom's place at Rimba, then heading to Tutong.

1/4/2006 (Saturday) Evening : Convoy to centerpoint gadong for dinner.

I'll inform u guyz later by SMS. Plz give me details of ur rides as that sheVy will reserve the parking lots for rx-8s.

As u all know that this will be the 1st ever wedding convoy by our rx-8 team. This event will be the starting point for this year's activity. Hopefully all the rx8ers out there can come out together to celebrate our friend's special day.

This is the chance for rx-8 enthusiasts to get know each other, sharing experience, ideas etc. & we can benefit from it too.

Plz do not hesitate to contact me for questions & enquiries regarding the convoy. All the best sheVy & congratulations to u

The recall does not affect us as far as I was told. You can try ebay for accessories, the others around here knows more about it so I can't help much.
