Question Buying a new car in Japan

This will be the first time I buy a car from new in Japan. Obviously you never haggle or bargain over anything in Japan - just pay the money. Is this also true with such a large figure such as a new car?

I'm from the UK where we ask for the equivalent of 200,000 Yen off the price and bargain to get the floor mats etc thrown in for free.

As the RX8 is a pre-order we don't have much ground for bargaining I guess as the dealer will just sell it on to someone else but I'm still interested in general - say if you bought a car they have a lot of (like a ....sshh... 350Z!)?

Usually, we will haggle with dealer over the price of the car here in Japan as long as that does not deeply embarass the dealer.
I bought my current car with 250,000 yen discount.

But, there is some cars like 350Z which are sold as "one price".
How much discount you can get depends on the car.
I think the situation is almost the same as in U.K.

As for RX-8, it seems difficult to get some discount. Currently, my dealer says he can give me less than 10,000 yen discount by removing the 4th digit from the total amount price. So, for me, there is little discount for RX-8.
I will try to get more discount in the next time.

like a rock

Hi! everyone

When I began to talk about the discount, Mazda dealer became hard "like a rock".
My dealer said, sorry...can not discount "Absolutely"@

Since I thought that discount of RX8 was impossible, I required that "Body cover" should be given.

The dealer wrote down it, and made a promise that it is given for you.
But Dealer did not say "Body cover is surely given for you."

Can I get Body cover ? It is a bet.

PS: As compared with other Japanese cars, I think RX-8 is not expensive.

thanks
