Chain accident on Nicoll Highway

Thought it would have already been reported in this forum... I saw a chain accident involving 5 cars at Nicoll Highway at about 8:50 am on Friday. The second car was a black RX8 with a nice body kit, but which was badly damaged in that accident.

Here's the interesting part: I bumped into my neighbour just now, and found out that her Toyota Camry was the first car in that accident! She related that some car in front of her suddenly slowed down, just before the ERP gantry. She managed to slow down and stopped in time. According to her, the RX8 also stopped in time, and she believes the third car, a white Nissan Sunny, did the same. Unfortunately, the fourth car, a BMW (3 series?) crashed into the Sunny, and resulted in the chain accident. A 5th car (can't remember the make) then ramped into the BMW. My neighbour's Camry had some dents & scratches on the bumper, but both the Sunny and RX8 had to be towed away...

To the owner of the RX8, my sympathy goes to you. Good luck on your third party insurance claims!

yah those inconsiderate drivers !
normally the fourth and fifth cars are worse off as they have even lesser reaction time compared to the first and second car.

I feel sorry for the RX8. Very nice bodykit...but the car was badly damaged both front & back, from the pictures that my neighbour showed me. It's not his fault that someone in front stopped suddenly, and he even managed to stop in time. Really 'suey'...

I think they should enforce a law that states the driver who slows down/stop just before gantry(usually to insert cashcard) will bear all claims for the damages created behind. Good luck to the fella in his next insurance premium.

cashcard issue?

i think its really better to leave the cash card inside the IU unit... there are covers for the IU unit covering the cashcard if u scared some1 will break ur windscreen. also its not good to slow down the last min when u approach the gantry... haiz.. i many times almost kanna also... lucky my horn loud and my hand staied on the horn haha... no choice la.. dun wan to go thru all the trouble....

what i normally do when i approach a gantry, i stay like 3car length away from the car infront of me... so i have reaction time.... be it to swerve out or stop... always give urself ample time.... also rem that u control the speed for the car behind unless u on expressway lor.... but expressway is always better to be on the 1st lane when coming to a gantry coz some idiot pple will always be damn slow at the last lane... haiz

but wateva it is, juz stay out of accident... coz its really troublesome... dont u all agreee? if can avoide best la... =)

drive safely everyone...
