Wah sorry sorry..

Come to think of it, i was "marvelled" at how they can use a 1.3bar cap with a plastic radiator overflow container.

Anyway i am happy with the temps i am having now so no changes for me, for now.

I'm getting the same pressure.

Yes I got the same reading ... I know it sounds crazy but you think with higher grade oil such as 20W 50 or racing oil will improve the kilopascal meaing should go up ... not sure this is correct assumption

By the way someone is using RP Racing 41 apart from rough idle what about oil press does it go up ?

My Oil temp sometime hits more than 100 is it normal ??

I am still trying to figure what is the correct measure or reading for RX8.

the weird thing is as my oil temp goes up, my oil press goes down. i keep hitting 0.9, 1.0, 1.1 when my temp is like nearly 100 degrees. Could it be wiring problem? but then again it is plug and play i think.

CoupeM, it's normal for oil pressure to drop when oil temp goes up. This can be due to two reasons, either engine is getting too hot for the oil to handle or you are losing engine oil. When the engine gets too hot for the oil, the oil starts to break down and thus oil pressure drops. If you are losing oil, then oil pressure drops and oil temp increases due to insufficient cooling. Either way is not good for the engine if the oil temp/pressure exceeds limits. Checking the oil quantity should help to identify which is the cause.

I am using racing 41, other than slight increase in rough idle, no other issues. Oil press all standard but i did get a slight drop in water and oil temps.

OK, I am currently using RP 15W40 and may consider 20W50 or racing 41 ... will do more research on it

Thanks

I was using 20W-50 and i changed it also within a week.

1. If i were using a thick oil, what can i use few years down the road when engine clearances expand? Industrial straight 60 weight oil?

2. It felt as if the rotors are rotating in mud.

In fact the RP 15W-40 is a very good and reasonably priced oil.

The thing is if you set 84-90C for the rx8 you would not even dare to drive the car anymore. Coz the RX8 will have a water temp 90ish even on normal city driving and oil temp close to 100. If you push the car slightly I guarantee the water temp will be close to 100 ....even just a few min of hard driving ...... all this is becoz the RX8 by default runs very hot but surprisingly the temp stay pretty constant after 100c.........
