The best consumption I had was on a 380Km trip of motorway driving. I just wanted to try to get the best possible fuel consumption so I was driving at 110Km/hr and always below 3750RPM. I managed 9.9Km/litre. That was the maximum I ever got.

The worst so far was 4,41Km/litre all in congested city driving.

Hmmm... that's weird? My best to date also manage about 380 km from full tank to lights come, but only manage at best 7.2km/l.

How i calculate my CF is set meter to 0 with a fresh tank of gas, drive it as low as i can, mark the milage I've covered before re-filling and use the amount of miles that I've just covered to divide the amount of gas that just went into the tank. And my fill ups normally around 52 liters. unless my calculation is wrong, why do we have such great difference on the km/litre.

last month i drove from my doorstep in pasir ris to my sister's doorstep at subang jaya in KL. started with a full tank. i did bust the speed limit in M'sia; fastest at 183km/h ( for about 10 secs only ) and most of the time i'm cruising on 6th gear around 125km/h.

it took me 4hr 5mins and 410.5km to reach there with more than a quarter tank left. that's hell of a good fuel consumption.

as for everyday singapore driving, i get about 7.8 km to a litre. now it's about 8.2km, i guess the engine performs better after some running in.

in the next few months i plan to drive up to penang. a fill up after KL will see me very comfortably at yet another doorstep in penang.

cheers guys and gals,

Since owning my 8 for a while now, I get anywhere from 350 to 380 km city driving before the light, avg. of 53 L per fill which means anywhere from 6.6 to 7.2 km/L so very close to your's M-ster. Also, doesn't seem to matter whether I use 95 or 98 RON...still get the same km's.

Damn that is good! What spec is your 8 and what fuel are you using?

i'm driving the standard MM specs. no particular fuel but shell seemed to do better. ( yet to confirm ) for day to day driving, i hardly go above 4000rpm. no point revving high when u know once it hits 3rd gear, it's time to stop again. i shift to 6th gear on the highway. even at speeds of 60kmh i'll be on 5th or 6th gear.

of course once in a while i'll push it to 8000rpm for overtaking or just for the heck of it.

Ok...that explains it then..I drive my 8 a hell of a lot harder. At 60 kmh I'm just about shifting into third. Dude...not that I'm saying you should crank your car faster, but each likes to drive the 8 as they will...it's the difference on the km's. Hey M-ster, how do you drive your 8??

I think driving style really matters on the fuel consumption. I was using caltex 95. Decided to be a nice boy after the tp booking. I am at 265km now at exactly half tank mark...think this will be a record high....

I step very gently at first gear and slip into 2nd at 20+ then to 3rd at 30+ and 4th at above 40. Once hit 60+ i'll switch to 5th if no slope....and maintain at 5th (above 80 to 6th and back to 4th once in the 50). When I see a red light ahead, instead of normally driving very near and braking, i let the car cruise there slowly.... Based on the current consumption, i should be hitting above 8.5km/l this time.

Well done, if all these driving tests makes you happy and when all these perserverance failed, you should be driving a corrolla. Will give you much fuel saving and more more milleage.

I like driving on its own. Since now must keep low profile and cannot speed i will find other means to challenge myself and keep myself occupied. So try to see what is the best FC I can get. Haha.... Altis? No no... I had driven b4 and I didn't like it. CG too high and it feels so 'floaty' going thru bends....
