No No. I did not mean it that way. I mean either a WRX or a crap car. Even though i prefer the EVO, the WRX is not crap. Its just its not so good looking and a turbo'ed version of what my old neighbour drives.

Basically, i felt he was a WRX driver because thats how some WRX driver feels about 8 drivers.

Because the WRX is cheaper and looks just like a saloon car with outrageous overdone bodykit. They know they will never look as good as a 8. And though faster they cannot "prove" it on SG roads.

As a whole EVO drivers are better.

I GUESS THIS GUY DIDNT KNOW THAT ALL CARS LOSE ABOUT FIFTY HP FROM THE WHEELS. THE 350z IS 287 HP BUT ABOUT 240 TO THE WHEELS. WHEN A COMPANY RATES THE HP OF A CAR IS USUALLY THE ENGINE ALONE. THATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HP AND WHP. HE NEEDS TO READ UP SOME MORE AND YES THE 238HP RX8 IS PROBALY ABOUT 170 TO 180 TO THE WHEELS.

 

The best part is ST Power doesn't do crank dynos... a member called ST to enquire. A load of crap coming from someone who know nothing about car performance. As far as I'm concerned, WE are the fortunate ones because we have don't have an ignorant and arrogant idiot behind the wheel of an RX-8.

In fact, I think it's fun to flame the idiot and that's what we are enjoying ourselves with. Even you are mocking the person by saying he drives a picanto or kelissia, which is actually not very nice to those owners of picantos or kelissias come to think of it... lol.

Sometimes people forget that the 13B is only 1300cc naturally aspirated and pumping 210hp at crank, whereas the best 4 stroke honda 1600cc b16c pumps 170hp. World of difference right? Anyway different technologies but if you are interested in figures thats it.

And rotaries can have real high rev limits as to a comparable class of 4-stroke and gets theres faster and more willing too.

I just read about a 600hp rx-7 which is not really uncommon. The 8 has potential, its a matter of when someone will make a supercar out of one. There are already some fine examples out there...

The 8 was only launched in 2003. The WRX and EVOs around 1991/2. Rotary engines have made way more progress than the conventional engine in the same time span.

Like some bro commented, there is indeed a huge diff from BHP at crank or BHP at wheels. Every car is the same so if hengheng go get a 220 bhp CL7R, he would have found out its only 170bhp at wheels, same as RX8.

Let it be known that Japs specs was dynoed with 100 octane petrol, which in our local context of 98 will yield less power. So heng heng will buy which ever Jap car he likes, go dyno and found that they are as 'misrepresented' as the RX8 he so commented.

Let him speak and say which Jap car he bot that dynoed exactly like factory specs else he better change his name to 'tut tut' cos if he doesnt even know these basic info, he does not even 'qualified' to comment on this issue.
