How to differentiate a 4AT and 6AT?
Hi guys, just wondering how are we able to physically differentiate a 4AT and 6AT? Is there anything that I can just look at and at one glance I will know that this is a 4AT and not a 6AT?
Actually I am asking because I've booked a 6AT but the price according to some of my friends is at a 4AT range and they said that the PI may actually be giving me a 4AT instead of a 6AT without my knowledge. Is that possible?

I guess u must have purchase the car price at somewhere between 91-92k.
Anyway, I wouldn't want to jump to conclusion on this matter. It is difficult to say that PI will do such things as I believe that they do have a reputation to uphold.
In the meantime, I will just try to gather information on how I can know the differences such as the shape/size of the engine block itself, etc. There are some who says that the "+" and "-" sign on the 6AT steptronic gear shift is red in colour while the 4AT's ones are black in colour. But yet I am still not sure how true is that.
Thanks!

Thats a myth...my 4AT looks exactly like the 6AT in this respect. Best way is to see the gear change up to 5th and 6th gear. And to the hairless ape that I am, i couldnt tell the difference between a lawn mower engine and a rotary 6 port engine if i looked at the engine bay

So I guess, I will just have to get the PI state the exact model with 6AT in black & white. Till I am able to drive the car then I will be able to tell the difference. If it is indeed a 4AT instead of a 6AT then I will sure bring this case up and the PI should honour the deal and price.

1) Remote has boot release, instead of just lock and unlock.
2) Light below side mirror when door open or door unlocked.
3) The gauges can change between Black Face red word and blue glow(like the new Mz3 SP, pic shown below) or black face white word.

Are you not buying this car from a dealer? Have you not looked at the car? Does the car not have a MAZDA window sticker?
This tells you the options the car has.
Including transmission option. And all other options on the vehicle.

The 6AT has 2 oil coolers. So easiest to check. And of cos, shifts to 6th gear. The gear stick is slightly different from the 4AT. The 6AT has a silver metallic centre. 4AT does not. Other than that, really no noticeable difference.
