It's not hard to maintain and not ex either. A lot depends on what you want to do to your car. If you mod a lot, then can expect more maintenance. If you keep it stock, it's quite simple and not expensive. Normal parts are around the same price. Premium parts, premium price.
Topping up engine oil, use the same oil that is currently in the engine lor.
Flooding issue? What's that?? Unless you park your car in underground cave like Batman? The "flooding" issue has been solved many many ECU flashes ago.
Warm up time depends on how long ago was the last time you started your engine. If you just stopped to buy Toto/4D (to afford more mods), then don't need warm up. From cold, I usually warm up until temperature gauge starts indicating (old habit from flying) and takes about 2-3 mins. Warm up at idle rpm of coz.. If you wanna rev your engine to warm up, might as well forget about warming up and start driving right away. Cooling down, not really necessary since it's NA, but depends how hard you drove it. I normally take about 15-30 secs to shutdown all my gadgets, hi-fi, aircon, etc anyway. Again, idle rpm. Petrol expensive.

I'm guessing you mean how much it cost to flash your ECU? If you bought a new 8, it should already have an updated flash. If your 8 is from MM, everytime you bring your 8 in for service, they will hook up the computer and check your flash version. If there is a newer version available, they will update your ECU flash. It's FOC. If your 8 is from PI, then gotta ask the PI guys where they go to reflash.
I have never had a problem with flooding even from day 1 and that was already > 1.5 yrs ago. So I can't comment on what's the ideal time to start your car (if there's such a thing). Why are you so worried about a non-existent problem???

Flyer: You are absolutely incorrect. No need for 10 days in basement. You just need to live in my neck of the woods.. Bedok. We have lots of flash floods -- even with the latest ECU will not help the flooding problem of our 8. ;-)
btw. How does one flood the 8? So much talk of this... I am starting to think of it as a skill one needs to acquire.

lowrider: ha ha... I stand corrected.
miki: don't live in Bedok
CoupeM: I think you mix with Stephy too much... starting to talk as much **** as him liao. BTW, it's Almanac.
