Smile Incomin rx8 kid on the block

Good day all seniors in the forum.

Im cornelius from singapore. Looking to get a 6 spd auto rx8 by month end. Been reading and sourcing this forum for 3 days non stop already.

Really transformed me from a car idiot to someone who can bargain with car agents. lol

Been in contact with numerous Pl, the difference in price and omv is really shocking, number can range from 93k all the way to 103k and omv from 20k to 36k.

No matter what, i will have a black rx8 baby by month end. Cant wait to go rounding or rx8 outing with you guys.

Just a summary of what i have found out.

- Insurance for me is a killer, im 23 this yr with 3 yrs experience. Reckon i need to pay at least 4-5k even with NTUC income, alt will be AIG and AXA.

- The stock car from Pl is a very basic model. You will need to install a brand new audio system, change to 2 tone leather seats, solor film, 18 inches sports rims, center console, ATF coolant, foldable side mirrors, mp3 player, cruise control, foggies, climate control aircon, reverse sensor and camera, sun roof, electric seat with side airbags.

So many things need to change and buy. I will try to bargain with the Pl and see how many accessories can he give. If not, how much do i have to spend for all the additions, can someone kind enough do a breakdown of price for me.

- And of course after getting the car, u need to rev under 3k for first 1000km and change oil after 5000km.

Anything did i miss out? Pls advice.

Cheers.

Cool Location, location, location......

To enter your location so it shows up in every post -

go to the top of the page and select "User CP" (control panel)

select "Edit Profile" and put a location in the box at the bottom of the page,

Mine says "Way North"

Hi and welcome

The basic model should already have foldable mirrors. As for cruise control and climate control aircon, you really don't need them here in Singapore, and I doubt you can even install them. And as far as installation is concerned, I believe the same goes for electric seats and side airbags (not sure if that's supposed to be absent... I thought they all came with it). Personally I wouldn't go for sunroof either if it doesn't come stock. Anything that has to make major changes like cutting up the chassis is generally not a great idea, in case problems arise. But if you like them and can find a reliable garage that will do a good job, then by all means

I've changed my audio headunit (mine came with just a lousy radio), the console panel will set you back a good $600+ already, and that's just for the appearance. Spent about $1.8k on my audio just buying the console, a headunit, and a pair of front component speakers....

Looking at the amount of things you wanna add, there's gonna be a huge hole in your wallet very soon. And that's even before you touch areas affecting your actual car performance!

Thanks so much gtsm, what u said actually made alot of sense. Looking back at the list, what i really need are the leather seats, 18' rims, audio system n panel, solar film, ATF cooler, reverse camera and a multmedia player ( can play all dvd, mp3, vcd, cds)

Now it seems more managable. Performance wise mods, im still a noob, dont wanna do anything to the car incase they void my warranty. But i assume putting a new bodykit will have no effect on the warranty right.
