Increased Compression

Dear All,

Appreciate all the feedback on oil (Mineral vs Synthetic).

Something else I was hoping our fellow forum members can help me shed some light on is your view of forced induction.

Supercharging vs Turbo chargig our 8's.

Having done a limited amout of sniffing around, I realise that one of the key differences would be the forced induction for superchargers happen across the rev range as it stems from mechanical origins, whilst turbo charging requires pressure from the exhaust system to be effective.

Would appreciate any thougts on

1) Is supercharging better than turbo charging? (from the perspective of cost/ performace?)

2) What are the downsides to each of these options?

3) Are there substantial long term side effects which are adverse?

4) Has anyone here tried this before and what are your experiences? any decrese in the reliability of the car?

Any thoughts/ remarks or comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Black Mamba

# Supercharge is more expensive, less thrilled than turbo....

2) What are the downsides to each of these options?
# Turbo generates more heat, hence more upgrades in cooling systems are needed. I havent heard lot about Blitz.....

3) Are there substantial long term side effects which are adverse?
# if you're ready to add lot more HP, be prepared to meet the worse..... or you can get the right people to tune it, use the right oil and tools....... But no guarantee......

4) Has anyone here tried this before and what are your experiences? any decrese in the reliability of the car?
# It was fun and fast of course......... BUt i blew it......

Actually, it really depend on how u want ur car to be set up...some like the
more linear kind of feeling which is similar to N.A...so supercharging wld
be a better option as the power increase is very similar to that of an N.A
car. But some like the sudden power surge at a certain rpm then it wld be wiser
to opt for a turbocharger...

Installation of any F.I mod has its down sides of coz...1st, its highly illegal.
2nd, must be mentally prepare to noe everyone at the gas station on a 1st name
basis...n 3rd, like wat lennon has said, the wrong tuning will almost certainly
destroy the car...
but if we talking the disadvantage compare to each other, the turbocharger
is amost certain to give u a lag due to being driven by exhaust...the lag
might be minimise if properly tuned but wld still be there...this is actually the
main reason i dun feel much 4 turbos...
The downside for the supercharger wld be not so value for money like the
turbo...it is more pricey than a turbo but unlikely to put more ponies into
ur engine...but then, the supercharger provides a more N.A feel for the
car which i feel is more suitable for the 8 lah...

Having said all this, I wonder when will i ever have enough money to put a
knightsport supercharger in my 8?
