Integrated Car Audio - Bose?

I just got myself a 6AT, and the importer didn't even include a CD changer, and the radio reception is horrible after installing the band expander. So I'm looking to change my fm tuner and include a full set of audio equipment. Any recommendations as to which shop I should go to for reasonable prices and good workmanship?

Also, I want something to integrate into the console and retain the steering wheel controls. Is there a specific audio system that I have to look at? Is the Bose 9-speaker factory fit from MM good (costly?) enough? Any other options? Don't want to spend above $1k for everything.

Thanks for all the help!

Cars Motor... so far they've offered very poor service. My audio system is completely bare, and I have to live with either lousy radio reception or nothing at all. For now, I'd rather just listen to the sound of the engine :P

gtsm, I don't think MM even offers the Bose 9-speaker factory audio system as an add-on. Anyway unfortunately, MM doesn't entertain parallel imported mazda owners.

I know MM doesn't entertain PI cars. Just wondering if perhaps there might be anyone who's upgrading their system and wants to sell the stock audio. But more importantly, whether I can integrate other systems into the console, and which shop I should go to. Any recommendations?

Why do you want to get a stock audio unit? If you are gonna spend money upgrading your audio unit, you might as well get a good aftermarket audio set. Ultimately, it will depend on what "other systems" you want to "integrate into the console". Maybe if you can be more specific, the members here can give you better advice/recommendations.

The stock unit is just a consideration for convenience sake. If there are other options available that are better for a good price, then I would definitely consider those.

I'm new at this car audio thing, so not very sure what I should look out for. Basically I'll need a head unit (with proper fm tuner not like the one I have), 6-disc changer, subwoofer and maybe speakers (not sure how many there are currently in my current factory setup). Won't be getting an amp cos I need every bit of space I can get in the boot. Any shops to recommend?

Good price, again, is subjective. Mazda headunit confirm is cheaper than good aftermkt ones. If talking abt value for money, thats another thing altogether.

u can look at ngkenny setup if u r looking at no amps upgrade. Only change headunit n speakers.

u wan to see solid setup, check out tan280's ride.

hi gtsm,

one sub + no amp = no point

it really depends on what you want.

Want to change stock headunit to another stock headunit....it might be better to change to an aftermarket headunit. Its does what the stock head unit can offer and more.

Thanks for the advice. In that case, back to one of my original questions... if I change to an aftermarket headunit, will I need to change my entire console, or can it be integrated? And ngkenny, any shop to recommend?

I got my 6AT without CD changer too. Was told that you have to pay for the additional CD changer. Ordered it cuz i want to retain the controls on the steering wheel.

Nothing. No CD player, don't even talk about changer. Just plain stock radio fitted with 12hz band expander. When they gave me the car, which was after a lot of chasing btw, they didn't even fit in the IU and reverse sensor yet. And I was supposed to make an appointment with Jackspeed myself to send in for leather upholstery... I was seriously pissed.

wa... must arrange to change the leather yourself! I will be pissed if i were in your shoes.

Same. My car came with no cd player. So listening to radio while waiting for the stock for the cd changer.

p/s: i'm having stock unit with mp3. btw, the radio is still lousy even after installing the bandwidth expander.

YOu have to change the console. But there is one console that is direct replacement for it. Can put in a 2 din head unit in there.

I posted some pics of it a few days ago.

The thread is just a few below this thread.

King's way car audio and New Generation car audio are the more reputable ones.
I got it done at King's way. Both can do the same job.
