Question Keen in getting the BASE RX8 :)

First a Happy CNY to all bro and sis over the forum...
Keen in getting the 210hp auto rx8 from PI (any to reccomend?)

whats the avergae fuel consumption i will be expecting from this ride?
(i know this have been discuss many times, but i am kinda confuse as i there are ppl who post as low as 4km/l - 8km/l)?
SO wud like to know whats the fuel consumption of the autos'(normal driving?)
Cuz i will be clocking from 2000km-3000km per month...

As for the NORMAL servicing, i know its a 5k servicing like the turbos'.... SO much much will i be expecting?
$200- $300 or $300- $400???

Thanks in advance for any message replied later on...
Hope to join u gang ASAP

fuel consumption varies alot, very dependant on ur driving style.....

light footed can get u ard at best 7-8km/litre...
heavy footed then be prepared to be petrol station's best fren......

mine still running in, so the FC varies very much but can tell u that rx8 FC is best on expressway.

If ur always city driving, then u can sign contract with petrol station..... full tank will not last you more than 400km.

Bro thanks for replying!
Yours the auto want?
Care to pm me where and how much u got it for?
Do u think playing around with the rpm at 3000k rpm consider light footed?
haha Will be more then happy if full tank can last 400km on 17" rims and "normal" footed

u shld get 350 - 400km per tank on normal driving with the new model. Seems some of the FC prob may be due to ECU mapping where earlier PI import have some prob doing a re-flashed. Diff to keep 3000 rpm with this car. It just like to be revvvveeeeed.

I personally recommend Garage R. Though they are more expensive, their service is good and they know a lot abt the engine!

Thanks alot!
Have contacted june during CNY period, Nxt shipment will be onli arrive march,
Price at $114 888... Consider reasonable

HAha, i guess its also quite hard to maintain at 3k rpm,
Guess the onli think to get over it is to tell myself that speed trap is every where, hence juz cruise in the second lane...
Btw, do u mean normal driving = to lighted footed with ocasional rev, ie: once a day?

mine is the MM model....

anyws back to ur question.. 3000rpm is lighted footed but can u keeep to it with a rx8???? very difficult.... afterall rotary are high revving... who can boast of revving to 9000rpm????

but then if u want to drive sports car, then dun be too bothered by the fuel consumption.... juz enjoy ur ride man....

GA and get it from them. They sold many and they are able to service the engine (most important). Once u get into the car, I bet u can't resist stepping on the accelerator. Anyway don't worry abt FC. U save the road tax to subsidize the petrol wat.

i am driving an auto RX8. for normal driving, i can hit 400km per tank most of the time. but like what some of the members said, it is very difficult not to rev, because its so FUN! i find it a joy to watch the needle goes up and down and up and down. shiok! HEE!
personally, i would recommend u to consider the 6 speed manual that comes with the high powered RENESIS. to really appreciate this engine of the year, u have to drive it at the higher RPM range, and only with the 6 speed manual high powered RENESIS engine would u get higher red line with more horse power. if i am not wrong, i believe that the manual version can get u better FC provided u will not be tempted. HEE! actually, i find that RX8 is actually a beast underneath its curvy lines. just like in one of the RX8 video, describing the RX8 as a samurai sword, smooth but deadly.
lastly, if there is any member out there thinking of trading his manual for an auto, u can find me! HEEHEEHEE!!!!

hi rayshaw23,
400km seems okay to me...
Actually wanted to get the6 speed, but wanted to cut down on some cost....
If i were to buy a manual car now,my choice will be the rex cheap and user friendly!
But heart juz melt when i sit onto the rx8! hehx
Anyway the power of the base rx8 is definetly bettter den my underpowered 1.9 318

cc546, test drive both the manual and auto before you make the decision. Yes, even though the auto is WAY better than your 318, but you owe it to yourself to check out all your options before you decide on spending your hard earned money on a RX-8. Else you could end up like rayshaw23 looking to swap his auto for a manual in a few month's time. :D

seriously, if u wan to buy car, they will let me test drive. Dunno much abt PI, but MM sure let u test drive. If not u tell me, i feedback to them. :D If u r really interested in the MM model, i intro my SE to u. good after sales service.

toking abt bodykits....

the more common ones in Spore is the MAZDASPEED bodykit, but it costs a cool 7k to 8k for the full set. Theres "pirated" MS bodykits in spore for i tink 1.5k only, but its of lower quality and i dunno where is selling.

As for other tuners' bodykit, there are many available over in the internet but those will set u back by at least S$4-5k including shipping, but excluding installation and spray painting in spore.

heard yap bros can help u import the bodykit for a good price, BUT........ :p :p

but expect to pay quality price for quality items......... this is the sad but true fact for our 8.

Coupe07, thanks for answering all the questions... save me some typing

cc546, if you have family constraints then by all means get the auto, but at least test drive the manual too just to see what you're giving up. I also considered getting the auto in the beginning for my family members to drive but in the end, I decided to get the manual for my own enjoyment, performance, fuel efficiency and several other intangibles such as MM's service and 3 yr warranty. It's not as though my family members absolutely can't drive manual cars, they just have to get used to it if they wanna drive the 8. Personally, I don't decide what car to buy based on the availability of bodykits and accessories, but everyone is different. I don't think bodykits and other accessories are a problem as there are many guys here to help and recommend to you many goodies. Decide and get the car first, then you'll see how quickly cash flies out of your wallet. :D

sgren, not bad leh... can use ang bao money to buy carbing. Me lose money over CNY... ha ha I just spent my money on ICE, else can join you for the carbing. How much is it anyway? Can give a breakdown pls?

haha...
All original kits are expensive! Especially when there are not many rx8 running on our SG road(this is also the reason i am buying)...
Even the replicas', shop tends to mark up the price even higher....
Maybe i will do up the rims 1st and defi gauges 1st! den bodykit later on(muz save up lehX!)
I find that defi gauges on the sexy8 looks damn nice man!expecially when the console is aso amber in colour.....

bro, i beg to differ...... u will be surprised that there are many 8s on the roads now...... during office hours, u will see many 8s in many different colours.....

i average one day see 3 rx8s on the road. :p

but then most are stocked 8s (or so it may seem). Dressed up 8s are still an uncommon sight here.....

I did mine at a friend's audio shop... fair pricing and good workmanship. I got a set of Optima 6.5 component speakers with cross-overs for the front and a pair of Oxygen 6x9 co-axial speakers with in-line cross-overs for the rear. Price: ~$660 I also bought over a Lanzar 600watt amp and a Bazooka bass tube from another friend at got it installed for another ~$770. Total damage $1430. You can get much cheaper ICE setups, but somehow when it comes to spending on your 8, you just can't help splurging... I'm sure you know the feeling.
