Yeah, it has been clarified by the PI that there is a master key with retractable-key. The one shown to me was a spare key.

"Keyless entry" - most probably the catalogue refers to the "Remote Entry" most of us have now.

 

Anyone knows where to order and how much a retractable key cost? PI model.

The RFID theft article is quite recent only i think.

They will not waste the time. There are other cars easier to steal, even if its less profitable. Deal in quantity rather than face hassles. Just like steering wheel locks can be negated by cutting the steering wheel but its still a deterrent. A thief rather break into a car without it.

mkl22: Why not get a good aftermarket alarm? I love those 2 way ones; use to have it but its a hassle to install one now with the OEM remote.

It takes less than a minute to defeat the steering wheel lock. If it's an expensive car, parked alone in a dark secluded spot, I'm sure the theft will still strike. Therefore, I believe there are many contributing factors. Not just whether you use a steering wheel lock or not.

The RFID issue is just that owners think they are more secure just because they have the most recent piece of technology which what we trying to inform the rest is that this is just not true. There are blue collar car thieves who use jimmy's, crowbars, hacksaws and even tow trucks and there are white collar car thieves who use notebooks, RF/RFID scanners and transmitters. Don't understimate car thieves and think that all of them are poor uneducated junkies armed with only cavemen tools, even if they are the majority.

Same, i collect my 8 3 days ago and mine is also the retractable key with 3 buttons....I keep playing it like a switchblade.

 

could someone be so kind as to tell me what the trunk button does? nothing happens when i press the button with the trunk open picture.

 

u got to press and hold for about 2 seconds then u will hear a pop sound. after that u put the key in your pocket. use either the right or left hand and lift up the trunk/boot and viola, it is open.
