Lobangs Corner

This is a corner for Singapore RX owners who have wanted to look to cheaper place to do up/repair/ dress up ur car, but always kena carrot-ed head. Lobangs posted here should be value for money and not meant for advertising for personal gain or benefit. (ie. no "agent" style of doing things or commission-earning business)

Anyone can contribute, but pls make sure its really good service or price cheap cheap or value for money so that no one will regret visiting your recommendations.

CHEERS!

STICKERS/VINYL/LOGOS

Bosz Creations
Blk 276 Bukit Batok East Ave 4 #02-118 S(650118)
Contact: 91834601 (cun remember the guy's name)
Monday - Saturday : 11.30am - 7.30pm
Sundays and Public Holidays : 11.30am - 3.00pm

Reason: This place is relatively cheaper than "that famous shop in ubi" and doesn't have to wait very long. Service is good. A couple team. They can cut very fine designs, unlike some shops who cannot manage. This is the sole advantage. For reference, you may refer to my car windscreen sticker on the left corner (if you ever seen my car, that is). Those that saw, will agree it's immaculately cut!

Besides stickers, they can custom those logos that u want. Those looking to dress up ur cars, may want to check this place out.

ACCIDENT REPAIRS/INSURANCE CLAIMS/MINOR MODS INSTALLATION

Joo Hak Kee Motor Workshop
Blk 3007 Ubi Rd 1 #01-406
Tel : 6743 1913
Look for Uncle Joo or Kelvin
Mon - Sat: 9.00am to 6.00am

Honest, reasonably priced and reliable. I have recommended some forum guys to this workshop and they were pretty satisfied (i hope) with the prcing and work quality. All our RX8 spare parts will be available upon order. Those PI cars who unfortunately met an accident, this workshop will be able to get spare parts for you within hours (mon-fri). May have some exceptions but so far no encounters of unable to get parts yet. This is unlike those dishonest workshops who tell u ur car parts needs 1 month to arrive or those nonsense or charge you exhorbitant price.

Mod/performance parts can be installed there as well, as long as no need much modifications.

GROUNDING (FREE LANCE)

Jason
HP: 97975869

This guy is doing 8 point grounding instead of the usual 5 point or 6 point. Should be rather effective for auto rx8s. He is actually providing COLD AIR INTAKE and OPEN POD installation. However, i'm not sure whether he can custom make to our car or not. He has done for many other cars already. Friendly guy with vast knowledge of engines and cars.

Work is neat and maticulous.

This guy has a lot of back log orders, showing how popular he is in this field of work. Call to enquire and ask him to check out ur car.

Again, how effective grounding is to ur car, me not too sure. But i'm very sure it is more effective in auto than in manual. For manual, if u have sound system, then it may be necessary.

CAR AUDIO

AUTOFORM ENTERPRISE
1, Syed Alwi Road #02-02
Song Lin Building
Singapore 207628
Tel: 62965060

Price for audio parts is cheap as they are the WHOLESALERS. The bulk of audio shops in Sim Lim got their audio parts from Autoform. Specialises in many audio brands. They do installation as well, but i do not know how well they can install. If not comfortable to let them install, just get the parts from them and ask a reliable source to install for you. The plus point of this warehouse is, they are value for money. Most of the brands are from USA, like VISONIK, ROCK Audio USA, Rockford Fosgate, BOSCHMANN, INFINITY, JBL, POLK and many more. They also have LANZAR, JVC, DENON, etc...... Go there and check it out urself. If unsure, ask for assistance from the guys over there. If you want super high end systems, i tink this is not the place. If you want budget or value for money, this is the place.

Do not be scared by the appearance of the place. Its a office/warehouse/shopfront.

CAR AUDIO INSTALLATION/CUSHION/INSULATION

ING SIAH HUAT
Blk 3014 Ubi Rd 1 #01-312
Tel : 6748 4747
Contact Ah Peh
Working hours: 9am - 6pm

This shop does the bulk installation for most parallel import cars. Price is OK and he does not compromise quality with price. Ultimately, no wires dangling from anywhere, no ugly wires appearing out of nowhere. NEAT JOB. He is using rather good cables for your audio installation. He is familiar with the dismantling of most car makes, including our rx8. All fittings, clips, bolts..... he is familiar, so do not worry that he will "spoil" ur car. However do not expect "ah-beng" style of installation or fancy outlooks from this place. This is more of a no-nonsense, conventional way of installing ur audio components. U may suggest ideas to him to see if he can do it. Also does car alarms, and has audio parts for sale as well.

most importantly, NO AEROPLANE SOUND!!!!!!!!

Hey, coupe.. Great job!

REVO Workshop
Fong: 97613316

If u r like me who thinks that the 8 only should take mineral oil (not meant to start the debate!), u should try this "Super Mineral" oil. F K Massimo from Japan is rated at 5w20 and for a mineral oil, has got great viscoscity. Should be able to get it from other workshop too.

Wow Coupe, you're always the ever hardworking dude. Great effort!

Though I'm not really thinking of mod-ding my car at the moment, I am thinking of getting some accessories. I remembered there used to be some good site for RX8 accessories but been trying in vain to find them. This forum has grown huge over the past 2 years and it's like finding a needle in a haystack.

If any of you remember which are the reliable sites to buy standard accessories off, please advice. Thanks.

Car Grooming

Victory Car Grooming Systems

1A, Tampines Street 92

This place is really good for people like me who want to polish their car but don't have time to DIY. Its run by a husband and wife couple. They are very friendly people and are very thorough and professional in their work. I sent my car in and the result is very very impressive, made me feel like I just got a brand new car and put a big smile on my face :D

This is what is included in each session:

Car wash
Claybar car wash
Teflon polish from USA (using hand to polish on, followed by buffer machine to polish off)
Cleaning and polishing of front windscreen, rear windscreen, all windows, and mirrors
Cleaning of rims, including in between and around the wheel nuts/lugs
Thorough wipe and vacuum of car interior and car boot
Black polish of all black plastics and tyre walls

I'm a very particular person and I hate it when my windscreen is dirty or smudgy. After the polish session, my windscreens and windows were crystal clear! And I'm not sure what they apply, but it has the same effects of RainX, except it doesn't make your wipers skip, rain just bead up and flow off my windscreens.
