LOLZ....... i broke my rear axle gears 3 times....... The gearbox mounting frame that connects to the rear axle twice....... Went thru 4 Cusco 3 puck clutch plate+preasure plates..... Blew the radiator expansion tank while doing some HARD driving with a Ferrari 512M (Johor Royalty Car) headed towards Pasir Gudang Race Circuit for private track session..... That Ferrari was amazed he couldn't lose me.......
Got 3rd place in a Drag event in 1997 @ Pasir Gudang Circuit (Lost to Evo3 purely cause of traction).........

Vaz-Maz (Edmund) did a StreetPort once, BridgePort once (idled like a race car with high cams)......... I even ran Ceremic 2mm apex seals ....... wanted 3mm seals but did some research back then and found starting problems associated with 3mm seals...... Im sure it isn't a prob now.......

There was even a case of my engine giving way jacked up of those chassis stands all b'coz Vaz-Maz forgot to tighten the main bolts that secure the Rotor Housing sandwiches.....LOLZ....... wasn't funny back then...... BUT...... I laugh at it now........

Wow... effie u are a track racer.

Lennon si fu~ need help again~!
well 3 of us rx-8 member, me, hyiung and azmee went to drift with the KSOC members on an open space with huge car parks for exhibition.
hyiung's car is Type S 6MT, Azmee one is 4AT, Mine is type E 4AT. everyone off their DSC and drift, Azmee's car drift fine, Hyiung's car drift fine too. but mine couldn't drift. what might be the main problem? Tires? or ECU tuning? we drift using 1st gear. azmee & another experienced driver tried my car and found that the car is going front but not side ways. well ... anyone got this experience before? DSC is off and we can feel it. just that its not drifting.

Guyz....... While i was driving my 8 this afternoon, i suddenly lost power ....... Tried to restart motor....... Was overcome with STRONG petrol fumes ...... Quickly coasted (dead engine) to the side of the road....... where i promptly popped hood open to discover what i kinda expected........... At first i thought it was a ruptured fuel line (but cannot be..... car still new)..... Actually, the fuel hose popped off , spurting fuel like a fountain .....LOLZ...... Thank GOD my car didn't burst into flames ........ Apparently it is a clip type hose...... Im gonna bring it to a workshop ad install a proper clamp......... !!!!!!! Don't want it to happen again........

Want to know if something similar like this has happened to u..... If so, how did u rectify it?

bitbit,

I also tried drifting the 8 few months back, but at that time did not know how to turn of TRC, only DSC was off. So could not swing the rear out. Also, was running on a 18X9 rim and 245/45/18 setup on all 4's.

i reckon you're on manumatic when you swing out the rear?

Some more questions:
What size rims & tire setup you're using?
What RPM were you on before the rear to start spin?
Did you manage to hold the drift for a prolong period or just a fish tail u-turn?

Thanks.

Thanx for the info bitbit.

I know this secluded place in Tmn Industri Subang. Most of the drifters go there to practice. It's an empty parking lot. We should go there one day to try

Boy,

What tires and rim sizes are you using? More grip in the rear vs the front can cause you to experience understeer, hence you won't ba able to oversteer.

With or without LSD, you should still be able to swing the rear out in a fish tail style. Only thing with LSD, you would be able to hold the car in a prolong drift more than without LSD.

i am using 225 / 45 R 16 i think this "More grip in the rear vs the front can cause you to experience understeer, hence you won't ba able to oversteer." is what happened to me.

i am not very into drifting. know a bit about it through a video game D1 grand prix , PS2. well we drift in a parking lot too. so prolong drift is a bit hard. even feint drift is a bit hard to do. possible though.

The RX8's almost 50:50 weight ratio makes it a little harder to drift compared with pure FR cars like the Silvias. If you willing, next time before you initiate a drift, press the brake a little harder, to shift the weight to the front of the car before you steer the 180 degree turn. The weight transfer should held your rear to spin out a little.

Have you got a copy of the Best Motoring Volume, i) Rotary Reborn and ii) Rotary Rocket? They do show a little bit of drifting on the RX8.

i watch a lot of those videos even have one in hand now. but they never show how to do it in your car lol. the most headache thing is i know i should be proud that my car is hard to get turn around like everyone else in the forum says, but really feel weird when someone who can drift well step on your car and wasn't able to drift your car. -_-'''
