hah! Goober ah u must have not modify other things like spark cable and oil cooler ler. hehehe if u did u can feel its a bit rough without the pulley kit. the pivot one u need the one with earthing also to feel the different. anyway may be your car still too new to feel the effect, its a good thing.hehehehe

About the pulley thing, it really dpends on the engine and how sensitive the owner is...... You don't have to wait for long to feel the differents, if there is..... Sometimes your engine already has a better low end torque, some don't.....

Hi,
Been an owner of a white 6 MT RX8 for the last month or so!
Loving every moment of it.
Also met up with some of the RX8 members in Dec at Dataran Prima.
Quick note to say hello and introduce myself.
Have followed your threads even while I was contemplating on purchasing the car.
Finally decided to register.
Some mods I've done to the car:
1) Auto Exe Catback exhaust
2) HKS SLD Speed cut
3) Blitz Air Filter
If somebody can help me out here, the Blitz air filter seems to have dulled the responsiveness of the car. I've read that in a test conducted by some members, the 8 with the open pod air filter edged out...
Am now considering reverting to the original box with K&N drop in filter..
Some comments | advice would be great...
Cheers

open pod filter always seems to take away performance if u r NA but not so for turbos, it will enhance it.
more hotair will b sucked in. thats the reason u feel lack of power. im using knn drop in... the diffrence is not much compared to stock filter in low end, but u will gain more performance in higher revs. it will work well with the catalyzer removal

Hi Goober 8, yes, I was there when we met the two guys from motorsports channel...
The Auto Exe exhaust is perfect for me...quiet on low revs, sweet on high revs!! Gains, minimal but psychological gains, loads!
Warm feeder, thank you for your response. I'll most likely replace the original box with the KNN drop in...also the open pod is thunderously loud...
Removal of the cat was something I was contemplating but i keep getting and reading conflicting views. Nobody can give a conclusive answer as to whether it's good or bad plus complications one might encounter...
On most of my other cars, i never hesitated to remove the cat but i've read that on the 8, the cat is important for back pressure and you'll save yourself the worries of the check engine light problem.
I'll probably have to try it out and discover it myself...much like the open pod filter..
Once again, thanks for the reply..
Cheers!

Phyton..
its kinda good that there is conflicting of views.. so it creates doubt and therefore creates a class distinction for those who did it.
for anything good, price would usually be the main barrier to preserve distinction... so it becomes less affordable to the majority and more distinctive to the minority who have it.it gets kinda bland when everyone has it. would ferrari be so special if any tom dick and harry could have access to it?
but as for the catalyzer removal... u just cant charge 3 or 4 K to remove it and replace with a pipe... no matter how u do it.. its still a cheap mod (with big returns).
what then would be the preservative barrier? myths, rumours & dilemmas...
to me, i choose to share a good secret.

Warm Feeder,
Another quick response with useful information! Cheers Mate!
Am off to get the car dyno'd with the open pod...(I've dyno'd with the KNN drop in), figured it would be fun to see if there is a change in the numbers...my gut tells me very little..
Cheers,

It's simply because some people come from a different school of thought, differing experiences, or just being overly cautious (like me). Those that choose to do it (in this instance removing the CAT) are just people who knows what they want and gets it done.
On another note, Warm, I heard that Sepang is fully booked, and apparently closed till after the F1. So hopefully we can book a session then. Just to update you.
