Mazda Sing. bringing in the 8.
It's official.
Ads in the paper today.
I've called up. It's going to be the Euro spec RX-8. Sounds pretty much the full options, only the 6 speed will be brought in. 231ps, 6 air-bags, leather and sunroof. Only $139,880.
I think the Authorised Agent in Singapore are ganging up to wipe out the PIs. Now even the performance cars are priced to compete if not cheaper than of the PIs. Take the STI and Evo for example, the STI's are now only going around $125k and the EVO at low $140k.
Competition is good, look at the Teleco industry, the consumer will benefit at the end.
Any regrets?:D

$139,880 - hmmm, thats a pretty good price. Of course thats due to the low COE and reduction in the ARF. Wonder what the OMV is like?
No regrets, I wld have enjoyed the car for a year already by the time MM's stocks arrive :p Anyway, 250ps still a bit more than 231ps :D

Mazda Singapore Sore Loser !!
Dear Fellow RX 8 owner,
Juz got reliable info from Mazda (S) tat they r retailing their
RX 8 at S$139 999 with 6 airbags, leather & sunroof, oni type S manual available.
OMV however is at Low 30 K. Delivery in June 04'
Mazda (S) boss apparently is doing it to get back at PI for taking a part of their mkt share.
Intention is force them to rid of their remaining RX 8 at a loss.
Plans also include advertising to assure would be buyer tat their cars are under warranty & free from recall, thus resulting in bad resell value from existing owner whom bought it from PI.
Tis is the work of a sore loser !!!!!
As a principal buyer for Mazda Cars in Sillypore, I do wish tat come one day, international policies wld be impose on them to service all Mazda cars irregardless if they are PI cars.
These monopoly of sole distributorship in Sillypore does not do justice !

Called Mazda and they won't have one for test drive till May or June.
Full options are nice, but I would rather have the choice to forego the sunroof if that gets in the way of my head. When I sat in the 8 without sunroof, I had about 1' left till i hit the roof liner, not sure that I still can fit in my preferred driving position with sunroof. Hopefully the electric seat has height adjustment also!
I would think that OMV will be around the 40k level as all options are factory fitted. However, they are not too clear if the sound system is going to be the 6CD Bose. They also seem very inflexible about the options. E.g. no black/red leather option, only black/black or black/brown, cannot take off the boot spoiler.
Anyone who's yet to buy interested in going down?

Electric seat has got no height adjustment, it does has a adjustment where it made the seat more bucket seat like with the tail end of the seat sink in, sort of affecting the height, but very minimum.
I would not be surprise if their options are infexible. With the kind of price, the order they put into the factory would probably a mass order and not custom built to indivisual request.
It's good idea to go down to them, but then again, I wouldn't be surprise if they could only supply limited info.

Hi all!
Me went on Sunday to MM. No auto will be sold. Also no Mazdaspeed package/options.
Salespeople were rather curious to see me auto ;p
Me looked in shop & they looked at me RX outside!
But they sell VERY nice stickers/decals & metal(lish?) 'Mazdaspeed' logo. If anyone goes, look out for the sticker of a running & grinning triangle! Me considering getting one... Cheers all!

Hmmm, I wonder if they would entertain us if we were to get parts from them. I would think for Accessorise they probably would, but for replacement parts they would not.
When I still got my MX-5 used to pop by to get some parts (wear&tear) they requested for my chassis no. and did mention that they don't sell parts to grey imports.
We shall see.

With the ad put up by Mazda Singapore couple of months ago (if anyone still can recall), they specifically said no support would be given to PI's cars.
Unless of course, Japan Mazda would also impose a similar rules like the Merc did. As far as I know, no such ruling just yet.

That's why, if you were to look at the STI and EVO, they're now bring the Cspec, 555 or MR.
