Hi aminael and Zenith, welcome to the club. Most of the guys and girls are friendly and helpful people. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them and we'll be happy to answer them or direct you to find the answers, but I would recommend that you try to do a search before you post your questions because a lot of the common questions have already been answered in previous threads. Alternatively, you can join us at our regular Friday night meet-ups and ask your questions then. You are welcome to join us regardless of whether you own an RX-8 or not. Just look out for the details to be posted in the Far East/Asia regional forum.

Hi there, good decision on getting this great car and i can safely say, you wont regret it.
As flyer just posted, you can do a search through the forum to find lots of info from how to do the proper break in of a new car up till mods that just go right through the roof.
You can alternatively join us for our weekly meets and the right person to contact is coupe07. Just leave him your details you're on your way.

Hi guys. Been thinking abt gettingh myself an 8. Still kinda alf hearted, due to the several factors. I have read thru a few forums, and seems like many are complaining about high fuel comsumption. Even sellers are selling due to high FC. But from what I learned, the FC is like 6.5-8.5KM/L. 6.5is really bad, but 8.5km/L seems okay. I mean most car avg abt 10km/L, but they are also "avg" car which probably have "avg" performance. WRX FC is slightly better at about 9km/L with mods, but the WRX is becoming more like Taxi(in terms of the number/road), inclusive of TS wannabe WRX.

What are the key issues which I might consider before committing into 1?
-Engine Flooding?
-Any rotary mech in SG? Dun wanna have to go Vaz Maz in JB, each time something goes wrong.

I would recommend you to be wary of VM cause there was a incident of a FD being installed with the wrong spark plugs and car was going haywire.

Seriously the car wont give you so many problems unless you are thinking of extreme mods.
So far we havent had heard of any serious engine flooding issue problems, just as long as you dont rev when you start or turn off your engine.
As for the mileage there is nothing much that can be done and one of the members has tried all those "fuel-saver" products without much improvement.

Frankly its a great ride with hell lot of looks, thats probably the main factor why we all got this car.

Thanks for the reply. So, are there any good rotary mech in SG?

Was looking at the PI 8, and notice that it only comes with radio. How many of you bought your 8 from PI overcome this issue? In the main tech guide, there are a few ways to connect are devices, how did our local 8s overcome this issue?
- CD Changer via FM, is it good? (clarity)
- Aux Mod, anywhere selling it in SG?

I went down to MM and they told me that they won't sell the in-dash CD Changer, even if I were to pay dbl the price. Like as if I will pay them dbl. haha.... might as well ask me to buy their 8 at 119k.

Hi Silver_Z most of the PI only come with a radio, what you have to do is bring it to a good Audio shop and fix in a "PioneerAXM-P7650" and all issue will be overcome. If you have not purchase your 8 from a PI, you must be very careful with "one" when you are going around, cos i did my purchase for one "RX8"since early Oct'05 was promise to take delivery on Dec'05 b4 X'mas but till now i am still waiting for it,the salesman give me all kind of reason and excuse but what to do is like what chinese use to say in Hokkien "***** under the stone" and I have already pay for it since Oct'05, so be careful never trust this ppl, make them put on writting in black n white b4 you fall pray like me, if you wish to know which PI I bought it from you can P.M me hope this issue will not stop you from getting one.

Thats cool! I mean the Pioneer AXM-P7650. As I already have that on my current ride. Just that my In-Dash Screen CD unit will be redundant. Hmmm...... With this, it will make my steering controls useless right?

Yes, I am looking at purchasing it from a PI, since I am in for AT. Been driving MT all my life, think its time to relax on some AT. Looking for a ride that looks good, adequate power, AT at ard $100k range. RX8 fits it all. My current FC is like 8km/L, since I am driving a car that is 8km/L, I might as well drive an 8!!

hi tere,welcom aboard...
tink u r abit optimistic here on the FC of an auto.dun xpect to c 8km/l,its a fig the manuals r lookin @ provided he/she is light footed & runs on the stock 'shoes'

many of the auto owners r doin range like 6.5-7.5km/l.in fact,i blive som 1st owners did sold/chg their ride due to the high FC

Hmm..... 8km/L to 7km/L isnt that much a diff. I mean... unless I was deciding between an IST or Jazz to a RX8, then the diff will be there. Even if I were to buy a Rex, I will only be getting like 8.5km/L. Right?

The AXM-P7650 is a system with integrated OEM System,I think what you have is AVX-P7650 is a 7" wide in dash fully motorized LCD color display with DVD/VCD/CD player is not AXM-P7650. As for your info the AXM-P7650 is a Multi-Channel Processor Controller and is mean for OEM radio or non-RCA output head unit. With this all control on your steering controls will still be the same and u can add what ever you wanted eg. CD changer, amp, Any display screen for DVD/VCD/CD etc....

Just go for it on the AT and be very careful when you deal with PI, if I am not wrong the current price is at the low side range from 95k to 97k due to low C.O.E, I bought my at 103k that was in early Oct'05,but just take note when you are signing on the doted line make sure you make them put in writting whatever they said.

Yes, I have the in dash display screen, which also requires me to have the multiprocessor DEQ-7650. In order to use the AXM-7650, you are required to have the DEQ-7650. What the AXM does is that it is a bridge and controller for the DEQ-7650 and the OEM HU, without having the need of the AVX-7650. This system not cheap, coz from what I remember, the DEQ-7650 itself is about $1k. And with the AXM-7650, the controls and features are at the AXM remote control, not on the HU/steering anymore. Check out page 12 of AXM-P7650 .

Think the best solution to keep its oem function and looks is RX8 Audio . Then use the high to low converter to hook up to a 2 in, 3 out crossover for front, rear, and sub RCA.

Hi Silver_Z, I have fix the AXM-P7650 on my current both car(RX300/2003 and M3/2004) both from agent not PI, and I still able to control all system thru my steering control just for your info.

With the AXM, the OEM HU radio volume and settings can still be controlled via the steering, but additional CD Changer that connects directly to the DEQ have to be controlled via the AXM right?

Countdown to bliss

Hi, my name is Kelvin, and i am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my ride from mazda motors. 10 days to go and im honestly super excited. This will be my third ride, my first was a honda esi and my current car is a slow sluggish cefiro.

This will be my first performance vehicle and i am looking forward to the upgrade options available to our lovely ride. Right now im toying with the idea of bodykits, mayb NRF or fabulous.

Life is good but the wait is starting to get unbearable...
