Hi guys! I am new in this forum(sorry if wrong place posting) and I am currently driving an e46 and wanted badly to get the RX-8 but have no prior experience in this car.

Would be happy if you can enlighten me on this car and how to buy the best one.
My question would be:-

1. How many version is there
2. What is the different between a type E and S
3. Is it advisable to get a 03 car ( cheaper ) or a 05 and what is the different
4. What is the different between a MAZDA Speed version and the normal one
5. Is the rotary engine expensive to maintain
6. Does all the RX-8 come with turbo ( sorry if this a stupid question )
7. What to look and check for if I am getting a unreg version
8. How to meet up with you guys to see all your sexy ride!! TT session?
9. Any good place to scout for unreg car.
10. What is HP and torque for this car

Thanks and hope to join you all soon.

i see i can answer wat la...

1. How many version is there
there are alot version, i lazy to mention here, u can check other official website, u can see alot there...

2. What is the different between a type E and S
type E is for manual and auto
5 speed manual, 4 speed auto both also 197bhp, but for year 2006 auto transmission got 6 speed auto about 217bhp

3. Is it advisable to get a 03 car ( cheaper ) or a 05 and what is the different
if u wanted to get performance, dun think about the year, just get 04 one

4. What is the different between a MAZDA Speed version and the normal one
some tuning thing done on it, and some exterior spec changed

5. Is the rotary engine expensive to maintain
for tis question, every sports car must hav a proper way to maintain, so is not to say expensive or not... cause rotary is an unique engine, just need to take care it in the different way, when u step on it, u will know wat is the diffrence... mostly all sports car is expensive to maintain...

6. Does all the RX-8 come with turbo ( sorry if this a stupid question )
there is no turbo for original RX-8 engine, if got turbo is hard to make 50/50 weight distrubution already..

7. What to look and check for if I am getting a unreg version
tis one ar ? u hav to see where u buy already, if u buy from naza, they giv u everything fine mostly, and u hav to depends ur luck already, haha, u can ask one of our members to help u... got alot proffesional here...

8. How to meet up with you guys to see all your sexy ride!! TT session?
aiyo... tis one ar, if u bring some chick, the tai lou will automatically start to meet u up, haha...

9. Any good place to scout for unreg car.
try branded recon shop first... try NAZA see...

10. What is HP and torque for this
torque i duno
2003 - 2005 auto = 197hp ( 4 speeds)
2006 - 2007 auto = 217hp (6 speeds)
2003 - 2007 manual = 231hp (6 speeds)
for some 2003 to 2005 manual = 197hp (5 speeds)

Lordson...... a lot of what u said is not exactly right......

Type S 6MT 250ps
Type E 4AT 210ps

Also..... most figures u have quoted are for US spec Rx8..... Detuned to comply with strict emmision regulations. The JDM versions are more powerful.

So the JDM version is more powerful! Does this apply to years of manufacturer? I mean like 03, 04 or 05 will have the same engine specs?

BTW the type s 6MT version, does it come with paddle shift? Or is it purely a manual tranny not like those DSG or SMG clutchess shift.

What is the top speed of this car ah? Anyone care to share?

1. Many many versions.... examples are Type E, Type S, Mazdaspeed, Shinka, Touring, 5AT, 5MT bla bla bla

2. Most obvios are 18" rims on Type S.... the rest will take a long while to explain...

3. My advise would be to get 04 or 05 Rx8 coz its newer and most teething problems sorted out already. Also most mounting failure probs occur in 03 models.

4. If complete Mazdaspeed version...... Bodykit, MS Rims, Recaro MS Bucket Seats, MS Intake, Exhaust, All MS trimming (interior and exterior)..... Sadly, ive only come across only 1 complete MS version so far..... Most MS kitted versions here are incomplete.

5. Not expensive to mantain...... If u compare to most sports cars..... If want cheap maintanence car buy a Honda or Toyota entry level car.... hahahaha

6. Rx8 no turbo . Mostly coz cannot comply with Euro 5 emmission levels in the US. MAZDA sells more RX8's in the US than anywhere else.... Soooo, we all also kena larrr....

7. Check for the usual stuff when u buy a used car. Accident damage etc etc.... Engine wise.... Make sure there are no oil leaks etc etc

8. Just drop-by Aman Suria Dataran Prima. We are there most Fridays. 10pm onwards.

9. Most dealers here are good. Forget bout dealer, concentrate more on condition of car..... then only ask feedback bout that particular. No use going to Naza to buy fu*ked up car if another dealer got a very good one....

10. 6MT 250ps 270nm
4AT 210ps

I can understand Speedometer is unaccurate but RPM shouldn't be far off....

That water hose thru Throttle just keep your engine warm up faster, unfreeze crystallise water in throttle body in winter zone..... Other than that i can't think of any other functions.... You can feel that the TB is so hot...... Air passes thru TB will be heat up to certain degree slightly below radiator temp..... Imagine a turbo engine need air below 50 degrees to avoid detonation, what happens if NA having 80 degrees??? Your engine has loss efficient, heat soak is so extend that your engine is sucking less air, thus engine very thirsty...... When engine is combusted at underrated compression, that means running rich, lots of carbon and heat will be created.....

250ps is crank power larr..... When u dyno car its termed "whp" which means Wheel Horse Power....... Every car hp claimed by manufacturer is at the crank.....

You will never get 250 at the wheels....... Even the M3 doesn't produce 340bhp++ at the wheels..... the figure would be less coz u have to make corrections for drivetrain losses..... Point is, we all base hp figures on manufacturers crank figures..... Can only compare whp figures when u send ur car for dyno run......

anywayz, 6AT "Will NOT" produce 210bhp at the wheels..... You'b be lucky to get 160whp........

Thanks elfie, what elfie say is right the 250/210 bhp is different from the whp as when you dyno your car you will get about 20-30% less of the bhp figure and the dyno test accuraccy is also dependant on the dyno environment where the air turbine size, heat and etc will affect the actual figure. so it is always better to do the dyno test at 1 shop rather then 2 different shop for before and after mods.

249km/h that is sweet.......i bet you have to re-map the ECU prior to that.

I have check with MH and they have a 05 cars offering me at 160+k, saw the car but it is in those dark green colour........hmmmm

160+K for an 05?? the price really drops...

what u get from the crank will be discounted when u get on the dyno and will further discounted when its on the road. so the real hp that u feel is on the road.
