Its coz the RENESIS is not a "NORMAL" engine..... The only car (current brand new) in the world that uses an RE engine is the Mazda Rx8........ Want a normal car with normal reliability, buy a Mazda 6 lolz ........


Neewayz, if ur lucky enuff (which is not that often if u interview RE kaki).... ur 8 may last up to 100,000kms....... After that just overhaul it b4 it decides to MERDEKA.....hahahaha......

When i bought my 8 i too was in 2 minds at first.... Being a previous owner of an Rx7, i basically knew what i was getting into.... I told my wife that there is a very real possibility that i may end-up going through a couple of engines much like my 7...... Actually, i too an praying to god that my 8 doesn't MERDEKA too soon...... Its a very heavy expense when it does happen.... Every time my 7 blew an apex seal (my fault for running high boost), it'd cost me at the very least Rm10k....and that was back in 1996-1999...... Sooooo, let us all pray for reliability coz that actually all that we can do........

Remember to change/check ur oil regularly, check/change spark plugs and plug cable regularly (coz RE don't like missfires.....missfire = blown engine)...... Make sure ur water temp is not too high (high temps will lead to loss of compression eventually)...... Lastly, REDLINE that god damn engine every now and then...... Carbon Lock is NOT a good thing.......

i understand tat, mean always rev at 9krpm, LOL how about AUTO tansmission? actaully auto easily to merdeka or manual one easy to merdeka?
and... how long change one time spark plug ? and how long need to change cable ?
is there any such thing to monitor and see the apex seal life remain?

Spark Plugs i change roughly every 20-25k ....but this practice varies... some do it later...some do it earlier...

Plug Cables depends on urself... I make it a point to change after ive done 60,000kms on em... I always throw away stock cables regardless of mileage and replace em with aftermarket ones.....

U can determine/ guesstimate apexseal life by doing a compression test......

eh, u plan to buy R34 then u wanna sell ur 8 ? subaru V9 is better than R34 in my opinion la...
