as to some suugest that hot ait will be sucked into the fiilter, my take is the air intake is not a vacuum. it WILL NOT suck in the hot air. air goes into the filter when the car is moving and when the car is moving, cold air is being taken in. When ur car is not moving, the intake is not taking in air cos simply becos the intake is not a vacuum. U need to induce air for the intake to take in the air.

Revi is so raved about cos of the very nice design..... end of the day, its juz another air intake. It oso has the idling prob which most intakes have with our rx8. So i do not see why it is so different from other air intakes.

the reason why the check engine light prob that pple keep saying abt the k&n is becos they did something to their cat. If u do something to ur cat for our 8, even the best intake will give u the check engine light problem. and k&n happpens to be the victim......

my humble opinions...

there is a way about fixing ur air intake to maximise the airflow. I have told the bulk of those whom i always met at the gatherings. If you need more info, pls dun hesitate to let me noe. cheers
Hi bro

Well said. From my previous car and lots of comments from other owners of all sort of CAI, SRI, drop in filter etc, none seem to have an overwhelming advantage. My group of euro R friends are currently waiting for their GruppeM intake system to come in. Certainly interesting with the carbon fibre cover etc but they don't make for RX8 yet. U also have ITG and others supposedly used by BTCC cars but so far no one has tried it yet. So far i prefer to spend my $$$ else where until I find something I really like that will not break the bank.

Thanks for the update.

installing the air intake definitely has the difference, ur whole car feels lighter, more eager to rev and some of them sound monsterous without changing ur exhaust!

but i mean to say is, most intakes, sadly to say, are similar. Ultimately they are still short ram intakes. TRUST ones are slightly different, with the long pipe down to the bottom for cold air.

U remove the one below, so that airflow from ur underscoop can come in as well.....

PS: i tink my styrofoam is still there.... i wld have to check it out... cun really remember.... cos i changed my whole bumper.

pls do not hesitate to call me if u need to see my car.

sory, bro M. I took a look at the red circle again. It is not a VAFD duct. my mistake! but then its still not the black plastic that i was talking abt...

Sorry didn't make myself clear. I mean not one brand has an overwhelming advantage over another brand.

Bro, is the Trust intake similar to the Odula intake pipe? Actually, those long intake tubes which bends all over the place just to draw cold air will suffer some loss of pressure which may offset the advantage of the cold air anyway. At the end of the day, like you said, most intakes are similar - better than stock, but no particular brand is significantly better than the other. So K&N being cheaper than most other "branded" intakes is more cost effective. The ferocious sound is a bonus too. Not many intakes are louder than exhausts :D

nope bro, different.....

the trust intake is a long pipe down to near to where our right tyre are... the mushroom head (sponge) is at the end, near the tyre..... his type is known as the complete cold air intake, whereas the common bulk of intakes are short ram, meaning a short length of pipe, with a pineapple head (cone ) or a mushroom head. Short ram intakes are hidden within the bonnet.

potential k&n buyers, do u want to hold ur horses?

[click here] to see the new typhoon intake by k&n. Dunno whther theres any truth in it as well. Looks like its even better, cos the cone intake is directly at that stock hole....

again, dun tink its out yet, so if u guys want to play the waiting game, may want to hold on first..... but the waiting game may be damn damn long though.....

cheers!

As wat 07 said, to add on, the odula is just an intake pipe. It doesn't has a filter head, it is just a pipe drawing more cooler mass air from the lower air-dam. It basically replaces the VFAD and still work with the OEM air filter and box.

Regardless of design, any long piping that goes out of it's way to draw cold air will have it's drawbacks. The new K&N filter design is interesting. I think it should be better than the first Typhoon system. I don't mind trying it out if I can get a hold of one.

Yep.. Some call it exos header, some call it manifold. Some cars 4-2-1, some 4-1. A fnd changed his euro R header and the result is super shiok at $2k+ so wondering if any 8 bros tried this.
