Organise & Make It Official? (SG)

Hi Sistas & Bros

The 8 club's members has grown from since 20++ to 90++ till date, & is time to officially organise our club. Many many ideas have been surfaced to make the club interesting eg like activities..... I suggest that why dun we elect a chairman/president, a vice chairman/president, persons to in-charge of activities, merchandiser (eg polo, decal etc), general matters etc etc...

I feel that with this committee, the 8 club will run efficiently & effectively.

btw... I suggested earlier that we may even wanna pull out from here & host our own 8 forum for sg & maybe register the club officially in future

This is just a draft (coz there are more things to be done ),

any comments from you guys & gals?

Cheers

good to organise the activities and have some designated people to work on the activities.

on your point to register the club officially, did you mean to register in registrar of societies? quite a big proj on its own. few things:
- need to prepare constitution
- need a place of business to keep club records and accounts (any bros willing to let his place to be used as place of business?)
- yearly affair:prepare accounts, AGM, etc.

although not necessary, would be good to have someone with legal background to help with the formation and necessary docs.

think alfa is the only car club registered with registrar of societies (ROS). got a friend in the committee. quite busy i must say.

think we may just want to keep status quo. what we could do is to first start another forum (delphi? any other free forums?) or something, designate some people to manage forum/activities. we could see how it progresses and decide on the next steps.

Register under Clubs & Societies maybe future plans after we have really settled down & have enough members

We'll host another (paid) forum beside delphis or other free forum becoz the 8 forum in delphi which I started a year plus ago...looks unprofessional in delphi!

The club will still goes on....let say the helm's men sold their rides, they can pass down their responsibility to the rest of the members...etc

i feel dat not all the 8 owners will give up thier rides at the same time & eventually no one is having the 8.....hmmm dun think so ......but the no. of 8s will be increasing

Getting RCB registration is easy enuf - it's the follow up that's a hard act. Me don't think it's really necessary for now - the club is for informal fun. Wait until we want serious formal fun eh? :D

Besides - not that many of us. Me guess Alfa club different cos it doesn't sound as if they distinguish between the different Alfa makes/types. But good of Sandman to raise it!

Boss - exclusive forum sounds good! But suggest we need to ask, and now me will, whether anyone here is good with techie stuff to help set it up and keep it going

Dave, while I agree on the need to establish some kind of RX-8 Club Singapore identity and to have our own club website/forum, I don't think there is any member who has the expertise AND the time to get it up and running. Thus, I feel that there will inevitably be some monetary contribution required to get this done. May I suggest starting a poll to see how many members are in support of this idea AND willing to commit to sharing the cost of setting up our own club website and forum. And since there is money involved, I also suggest a treasurer be nominated for transparency of accounts.

setting up a forum is not a problem...
takes less than 3 hours if the proper codes are found
my own testing forum is located at click here

once the skin is decided on and a domain and server is registered for it to be uploaded then ....taaa daaa!!! its there
maintenance is a breeze!!!

Ok, back from my hiatus... Even if setting up a forum and maintenance is easy, there is still the cost of setting up the domain and web hosting among other costs. I think it inevitably will involve some amount money and it's not fair to ask the boss to shoulder the responsibility of footing all the bills. If it's a CLUB, then I think it's only fair that the members (at least the core members) help to chip in. My $0.02.

wot?? you only chipping in 2 cents? how can! hahaha... just kidding. :p think chipping in is not a prob esp since if u drive an 8, think smll amt is not a prob. maybe we can start by finding out wat's the total cost of setting tis up. think domain and web hosting is quite cheap now rite?

How about raising $$$ by selling some exclusive RX8 items to members eg RX8Club car decal and channel the profit for this project. Cheers!

this is the best idea!! since the polo tee has been done, the only channel to raise funds now is decals!!

does 1 decal a buck sound good?
profits can go to the funds...
minimum purchase of 500 pieces...
overall profit should be around 80 to 100 bucks ...
more than sufficient for a website i think

Bro... problem is, we can't sell that many pieces. We'll end up spending more money producing the decals than we can make from selling them.
