Rattles

Hi Guys,

I am having an annoying rattle coming from the left side of the car. I am suspecting it is the side mirror as most of the parts near the door seems to be tight.

Anyway anyone experience this?

Hi UG, I experienced some rattle too, from the left side as well. It really made me go berseck as I am very sensitive to this sort of noise. ( I sold off my 9 month-old Honda Civic 2 yrs ago bcos Kah Motors could not locate the source of the sound) After much prodding and stopping mid-way while driving to locate the source, the source of the sound finally revealed itself. Its from the piece of netting hitting against the back of the hard-back of the front passenger seat while the car is in motion. It is problem that was easily solved by placing something in the netting. Phew! Hope this gives you a clue as to where is may be from! Cheers!

Hi Dru,

Thanks for the advice, yours leather seat right? Mine cloth seat, so no hardback. I am still suspecting that it is the side mirror. Will go back to my PI to see whether they can solve it or not.

Will also try tightening a screw beneath the side mirror.

I've couple of rattles, but found out mainly from things you lay around.
Sunglassess in the sunglass compartment
Some left over screw (stereo's) in the glove comp.
CarPark disc on the windscreen

The only real noise from the car seems to come from the door(driver side) not sure if its the main door or the rear? It comes and go, thus didn't quite bother with it, as sometime metal pieces expand and contract according to the temp.

Hope you fix yours soon!

Hi all.

Do any of you get a wind noise? Sort of a whistling noise?

Does anyone have the m3 style side mirrors? I get this wind/whistle from the right side mirror (I think). Maybe it's loose too... Can anyone advice? Thanks & cheers!

UG,

I too have similar rattle coming from the left passanger side.

But when i moved over as a passenger , the rattle seems to be coming from the driver side.

If urs is similar to tis situation, the rattle source is under the steering wheel. Had mine solved by tightening all screws under steering wheel.

I too tot rattle came from mirror but was not to be.

Hope u manage to find the source and share wif us the outcome.

Zav

Hi all,

Solved mine...not side mirror, not door panel and distinctively on the left side. Well thanks to my PI's mechanic, it was a stupid clip holding the A-pillar is loose. After putting some 'magical' grease, the rattle is gone. Once again my baby is 'tight' again :D if you catch my drift....

Fixed two rattles

Fixed two rattles....

The first seemed like it was coming from the dash, but was coming from the driver's door tweeter. (by the mirror)
The second was from the latch area of the drivers side rear door.

I fixed the first by removing the plastic speaker housing. I noticed the speaker was loosley in the socket. I removed it, took a laytex glove, cut the finger tips off and used them to cover the clips where the speaker locks in. I snapped the speaker back in and it fit snug and didn't rattle.

I also took the door panel off and taped up any loose cables and wires with duct tape, but I don't think I was hearing any rattles from the door yet except from the power window panel. I fixed that too by putting those laytex tips over the connection point as well.

I fixed the rear door by removing the panel and taping up the cables and those plastic wire cuplings. I think the cupling were what was rattling. I also duct taped a wad of those latex gloves to the foam piece on the panel. This made the door sound more solid when I shut it.
I don't know why laytex gloves, I guess because they are cheap, soft and rubbery. They work great!
let me know if you need to know how to remove the door panels. It's easy.

Hi xenomorph.

Pls teach me how to remove the door panels. And the driver's door tweeter too pls.

For the door panels, does the air bag have to be deactivated?

Thanks & cheers!

No, you do not need to deactivate the air bags.
step 1. inside the door handle is a round circle the size of a dime. it had a notch in it. With a small flat head screw driver, open the circle from the notch end. Remove that screw behind it.
step 2. in the door's pocket behind the bar at the left is another hidden screw, but bigger. Remove it.
step 3. carefully pop off the power window panel with your hand by putting your fingernails in the edge and lift up and out.
step 4. inside the hole where the window panel was, there is one more screw. Remove it as well.
You can keep everything plugged it, just let it dangle.
step 5. remove the tweeter cover by pulling it left from the edge closest to the window. There are no screws here, just 1 snap.
step 6. with a flat head screw driver, place it in between the door and the door panel about 7 to 8 inches from the top of the door panel on the "latch" side of the door. Create a gap between the plastic and the metal enough to get your fingers in. From there, forcefully pop out the door panel going down from there to the bottom and back up the "hing" side. There are only plastic lock pegs holding it on.
step 7. The door panel should now be freely hanging from the top.
Remove the door handle cover by putting the flat head screw driver in the handle just to the right of the door lock ****. push the plastic towards the "hing" part of the door. It should come out easily when you pull open the metal handle.
step 8. Carefully lift the door panel up. It is only now attached by a lip at the window's base.
Hint: don't put the tweeter cover back on until after you put the door panel on.

Now for the back door.
step 1. same circle under the door handle. pop it and remove the screw.
step 2. the "pull" bar has a plastic face cover. I used my hands and pulled it off by prying it with my fingers. If you can't do it this way, carefully use a flat head screw driver. It will pop off in one pull. There are two screws at the top and bottom. Remove them.
step 3. Same as step 6 above and pop it loose.

Do all of this carefully. It will all go back together the same way.

I even put those rubber finger tips on the posts of the power window panel incase it wanted to squeek or rattle in the future.

No more rattles.
