RX-8 in Singapore

Wow wee finally sat in a RX-8. Nope not my car, it is a 210 PS 5 speed manual mica red RX-8. Mine is still on the way to Singapore.

My Parallel Importer was able to bring in the 210 PS car first.

The car is B E A Utiful!! The rear seat is also very comfortable. Can't wait to get my black Type S :D

Thanks UG_8, will call them to see if they have the 8 in their other outlets, otherwise can only visit them on the weekends, as it's pretty far to get to Luk Yang.

Cheers

For 16grand more I would rather go for the 6sp, at least you get 40bhp more.
it comes standard with a set of 18"

On Saturday's paper, Mazda just put up an ad saying, they would not give any form of service, parts, technical recall supports for PI cars. So if you were to consider getting the 8 from a PI make sure you know of a good mechanic who are experienced with the rotary. There are tons of them who can fix the usual pistons, but the rotary, I'm sure they are only a handful.

It is getting a little impatient with the Mazda Agent to put their act together to bring in the 8 into our shore soon. The lastest I've heard is that the 8 is coming only in the first quarter of next year, and they have no price confirm just yet.

I was once told, by this 2nd hand car dealer (not sure he parallel import cars though), if the savings of the PI cars are not of 10ks don't bother with it, it's better to get them from the agents. You're probably buying a peace of mind as well. Anyway, for those who can't wait....

But if my understanding is correct, going by what you said. Mazda Singapore do not have any intention to bring in the RX-8 to Singapore rite? unless they have special indent for this?
I have friend who call and email Mazda Singapore directly but no firm answer on this.

So cant blame those who want the car but "CANT" get them and thus need to bring in the car thru PI.

Honda did not put up such "warning" on paper for those bought their type-R or Euro-R thru PI

Mazda Singapore are going to bring in the RX-8.

From what I was told, it's gonna be only on 1st quarter of next year.

How I analyse the car market in Singapore:
The Market here is relatively small. Most Authorised Agent in Singapore are only interested in doing mass moving products. Demand=Supply=PROFITS!
The more they ship in in one load, the more they save, the more they save the more they make.

Most low demand cars, the like of EVO, STI, RX-8, and 'high risk' cars, would give the Agents more hassle that profits. That's why they are not very keen to bring them in. Which also why most PI are jumping in to bring these cars in.

Back on the RX-8, it's probably one of the most anticipated automobile to be launch this year. Being the only rotary engine and it's rules breaking stylings but yet, only for a niche market of car enthusiasts. And once they've got such high profile product, they'd give first priority to the bigger markets, which why I had mentioned earlier about Singapore being a small market. The production line have to meet those big market's demand before starting on ours. Sigh.....

Well Said M-ster, I do agree with you on this one.

whoa.. so Mazda Singapore gonna bring in RX-8, goodie goodie...

Now lets hope that if Mazda would like to discourage those PIs or enthusiasts from bring in RX-8 privately, I hope they are competitive enough in terms of pricing and specs.

like you said, if the saving not worth the effort, why bother :D

RX8

Well. I agree with what you guys are saying.

Anyway, I am definitely very keen in getting one. but somehow I am still trying to wait a while longer. firstly the aftermarket products arent out yet and I have heard fr Mazda Japan thru Email, that they will be coming up with a performance edition. somewhere around 300hourse, I presume its gonna be ForceInduct. also they say that the RX8 might not be the successor of the RX7, and a newer version of the 7 will be out, not so soon like end 04.

But tat aside , I jus wanna wait a while longer for the confirmation of the Performance edition of the 8, see if itscoming soon. BUT GEES !!!! CANT WAIT TO GET ONE RIGHT NOW !

Rex maybe I could sit in your 8 when it arrives ~! ;p

Cheers

The only way for Mazda to discourage PIs' sale is to price their RX-8 even cheaper. It might not help much by then (as most enthusiasts would have gotten theirs) but at least the whole industry would know that PI's car need not necessary be cheaper.

By doing so, the Agents also could regain back a little more market share.

And so PI's cars are only for people who wants the car so badly and not mind paying a premium for them.

Ain't no way they are gonna price their cars cheaper than the PIs. Mazda Motors makes more than $20k margin on the M6 2.3litre, so they are likely to mark up the RX 8 even more. My guess is that it will be slightly below the 350Z, so make that abt $160k to $165k for the 6 sp manual.

bros, not trying to say that buying from agent is not good, given the choice, i might buy from mazda but i had already ordered mine from PI as well, cant wait till next year!!!

anyway, just for you info, go down to racing works in Ubi and you will see a RX7 being overhauled there, the car was actually towed there by Mazda tow truck. Spoke to the people there and realised that the owner of the car is working for Mazda and had towed it there to be repaired as no one in Mazda can overhaul the rotary engine!!!!

makes me wonder, can Mazda really repair the RX8 when the need arises!!!

Hey Spyder, like you, I couldn't wait any longer for Mazda Motor to bring the car here. So I went and got mine through a parallel importer.

As to whether they can service the RX-8, they will definitely have to send their mechanics to Japan to learn (of course that will be one of the reasons they give for the higher markup!)

bought mine from eurospeed, titaimum grey, type S, according to them the glass is on the way from states and should be here beginning of Aug and the car should be register by mid Aug

i wanted black at first but my PI told me that the grey was beautiful and my gf love that colour as well!!!

I had ordered my rims already, volksracing 18' GT7 2 piece forged rims, cant wait to get hold of the car.

Anyway my original type S 18' brand new will be up for sale for those who ordered the type E, the rims are beautiful but i just couldn't stand not changing rims, hehehe

Hope that we can have a gathering once our car have been registered!!!
