I cruising a Titanium grey RX-8 for few weeks already, however, sometimes also stressful because ppl look at your machine on the road like some kind of alien... not so use to the attention....

Also, do you guys have worries of parking beside lorries etc...... usually will u all try to park further? Afraid of dents ?

heehehe

Welcome, gravity.

Just enjoy the attention! You are the star driving the car :D

Wrinkles on leather is unavoidable, just keep them clean, and use good leather care products to maintain their suppleness and smell.

Few Issues
=========

Before the drive in period, sometimes hit 5,000 rpm is it ok???

Because very difficult not to go over 3,000 rpm at times ....like rushing to over across yellow lights, etc

wanted to install the 3 oil gauges in the middle of the dash, especially made for rx-8, but due to speaker in the middle, not sure how the cable should be placed...

My technician is investigating it...... give update and advise you guys later

Wanted to change air-intake filter too, but now we got the heat shield , but when install no more heat shield , do not know when hsp will decrease due to heat, but compensated by larger air -intake and nicer sound :D :D

Anybody go up to 8,000 or 8500 rpm yet? how is the feeling ???

Thanks all, that it for all the problems and doubts...hehehehehe

Regards,
Gravity

I use the autoglym leather care cream, which feels pretty okay, and seems to enhance the leather smell = Nice!

As for breaking in period, you will see a variety of opinions on how much you shld rev the engine. Personally, I don't think you should baby the car too much. As long as you dont jump to 9000 rpm before the 1000km mark, you shld be pretty ok.

I redlined mine when it reached abt 1,200km. Feeling - Pretty good! :p

Anyways, dun need to redline la, go to 4-5K RPM, the traffic would usually be smelling your exhaust fumes alreadi. Unless someone is trying you then dats a different story :D

Welcome Gravity !

After you have broken in your car (after 1200 kms ), make sure you DO redline your engine at least once per drive. This is to make sure to blast out any carbon buildup in your engine to ensure a long engine life.

Until then, when you are breaking in the car, just drive at different RPM, don't just drive at let say 3,000 all time and just stay below let say 6000. This will ensure a good break in of the engine.

Have fun !!!!!!

Guys,

Mine is a auto transmission, so the other day i play on the seles speed control on the steering....

then when i almost reaching a traffic lights while still green, and it turns yellow......i think u guys know what i am talking about

at 80km over is pretty hard to stop, so i decide to dash, and not know got camera or not..... then no choice i switch from 3rd gear, and press on my seles speed gear Down to 2nd gear and step on accelerator................ zoommmmmmmmm

Now i really know why is it a RX-8!

Before the break in period , i try to drive gentle, but at this situation....no choice...whack it!

Quote from the owners manual:

Break-In Period

No special break-in is necessary, but a few precautions in the first 1,000 km (600 miles) may add to the performance, economy and life of your Mazda.

- Don't race the engine.

- Don't maintain one constant speed for long.

- Don't drive constantly at full-throttle or high engine rpm (over 7,000 rpm) for extended periods of time.

- Avoid unnecessary hard stops.

- Avoid full-throttle starts.
From the above I can't see why you shouldn't go beyond 7,000 rpm during break-in as long as you don't do it for extended periods.
Also you were right not to stop at the yellow light. Avoid hard stops!

Hi Gravity & welcome!

The mid-mount speaker does NOT affect installation of the 3 gauges. There's a MazdaSpeed cowl that comes with 3 gauges & it mounts neatly there. Apparently only the pop up navigation will block installation; so don't worry!

Lucky u!!! Me still trying to get approval for my intened mount. Pls instal yours asap so u can help me get approval! I think it looks stunning!

Maybe u can ask around - me know some pple have installed the MazdaSpeed gauge set. They may have an installation diagram. And good luck!!!
