RX8 Dyno in Singapore

Hi guys

I have seen the dyno charts of the 8s in US and UK....
Just wondering if anyone has done a dyno here in Singapore?
Was wondering wat is the whp we get for the MM and the PI versions of the 8s here...
Was thinking if we get better power here with the better grade of petrol?
Mind sharing?

Thanks...

Cheers...

Hi googlealien, you're new here? Just noticed this was your first post... welcome welcome. IMHO, "better grade" of petrol we get here does not equate to better power. Our stock 8s are optimised for 95 petrol so it doesn't what you put in as long as it's 95 or better, it should still give you the same performance. In any case, dyno runs on 8s have always been fairly inconsistent. I think it's due to our (act) smart ECU going into "limp mode" on dynos. I could be wrong, so if anyone has more reliable info, please kindly enlighten us...

Octane is just anti-knock index that specifies how clean the combustion would be. Some engine cannot take lower octane and thus would experience knockings. So, you have to use higher rating than what is specified.

Octane does not equate to energy density. It is possible to have higher octane but lesser energy. Read worse fuel consumption.

I had tried Shell 95 but I find that it is very very rough though FC is good. Shell 98 is smoother but poor FC. I use V-Power and had some remarkable improvement on my FC. It works out well for me and most value for $ so far. But all these also depends on driving style, etc etc. Experiment all the fuel and do the calculation yourself. I always top up the fuel myself instead of asking the attendants. This way I can ensure that it is filled to the rim. Then I can check the total amount the car consumed and work out km/l or km/$.

Hi sgflyer, manwe

Thanks for the replies... yes, I am new to this forum...
Just started browsing this forum a few weeks ago...

I was wondering if the RX8 is detuned in other countries... as I read that they are getting 170+ whp for a stock car.... Seems a bit low for a 230bhp car... or, is it normal?

Was wondering if anyone has attempted a dyno locally...

Cheers

If i recall correctly, RX8_666 had dyno his JDM spec 5 speed 210PS , & he getting around 170PS, so assuming 20% drivetrain loss, the result is quite close, & if talking about JDM spec 250PS, maybe 200PS WHP. Is that possible that the first few batch of JDM spec rx8 having better HP but poor FC ?

Hi, would you know what did the TypeS guy did to the ECU? Was it a piggy back, replacement or just re-tunning?

Cheers..

BTW, saw a silver 8 with a plate 666 as well, it was a quick flash rite infront of me, think it has got the MS kit and maybe drived by expat.

Hi M-ster,

It was a replacement. The workshop says they r waiting for the guys from APP to come down personally to Singapore to do the replacement. I do not know why. Probably they ll need to do some configuration or what.
Anyway ll update for any latest info.
