SG drivers s**k! Road-hogs, door-dingers, featherfoots, etc .
Damn angry man!. Saw a dent on the passenger side of my door. First one ever.
I always park in safe spots (eg single lots, far away, etc), and i stay around my car whenever possible but it still happened.
Another reason for this i felt was the extremely small lots we have here. Once you park your car its difficult to open your door. (either these architects are stupid, drive extremely small cars with sliding doors or do not drive at all.
To put it in perspective, maximum loading at HDB multi-storey carparks are rated at 1500kg, turnings are so narrow, lots so small. And the stupidest part is the lot with a drainage pipe is the same size as other lots.
Back to SG drivers, they always road hog on whatever road. Alot od drivers are guilty of this, taxis, vans, motorcycles, etc. It seems to me that these assh*les did not take basic theory or have a courtesy at all.
Its so bad that emergency vehicles have cameras installed.
Isn't road hogging as detrimental to society as speeding? How many of you are not pissed when all 3 lanes travel at the same speed with the road in front all clear? Imagine the fustration, loss of income and poorer fuel economy from stop-go traffic.
In one research paper i read in the past states that once average speeds drop below 40 km/h, there will be a tail-back jam. So actually, we can help reduce peak hour jams by simply reducing road-hogging and encouraging people to keep left.
And can we have a law like that in germany that states that you are road-hogging if you have more than 3 cars behind you when you are travelling on the right-most lane. And demerit points should be imposed on top of the fine we have for road-hogging.
Whats wrong with keeping left to allow a smooth flow of traffic. Actually, i feel that our roads can actually be less congested and smoother flowing if we solve these problems.

Right lane hoggers
In my opinion this is one of the most annoying thing in Singapore. It a bit of a reflection of the society in general:
1) "I am following the rules (80 or 90 km/hr) so I got the right to stay there (on fast lane) regardless of the rest of the people behind me...so sue me"
2) "I see no one so I hear no one." I call this island driving or bubble driving./mentality.
3) "Oh no, go cars 50m in front of me, i better press the brake... in case can skid or kena accident" ie. we have **** scared drivers who shouldn't be on the roads and are hazardous to the other drivers. I call them the Sunny drivers (Afer our fav popular car, the Nissan Sunny) Lots of these meek, grey shirt, grey striped tie guys running around.
4) Finally the ignorant traffic rules driver (aka "dumb f****rs: Right lane is for people like me who have a long journey to do eg from Siglap to Pasir Panjang on ECP... so I need to stay on the far right lane.
I have driven for 25 yrs now in 4 continents and never have I run into this large collection of the above drivers. Give me Italian or KL drivers anytime... aggressive and no so law abiding but at least they don't force you to over-take on the left(adjacent lane).

u must be in the interior design/renv trade?
actually the lots in geylang esp the side lorongs.,
many of them are taken by the shop units fronting them. after parking there for a no. of years, they somehow think the lot belongs to them. so if after parking

i think it's some jealous idiots.
but i hope after hearing my friend and my case, u will feel slightly better.
my last new car got scratched in my reserve lot, private apartment.
my friend's Beemer open top, the fabric top got cut twice. his own place,
private apartment. the replacement cost him 7K each time.

Some hoggers even drive at 70-80km/h on a 90km/h espressway with good weather and traffic condition! So if these arseholes ain't gonna move, am I expected to just follow behind and let traffic tail back or over take the arsehole? Sometimes I wonder if our TPs are plain blind or stupid or both!! Like they'd rather catch people who fit in "illegal" xenon lights, then catch inconsiderate *$@!# who drive without their headlights on at night or when its raining!!
I didn't know about this rule either!! get fined for over taking from the left, wat stupid rule is that?
Infact i normally travel fastest on the left on the highway as all the cars for what reason i dont know seem to flock all to the right side. Thus making the 1st 2 right lane seems to be jam and slow especially during peak hours...
I so often laugh to myself, as you coming out of the slip road joing the main traffic on your right to the highway, all the car just go straight as quickily as possible to the right. And as they hit the 1st 2 right lane, they just got slowed down. And there left with me still on the left lane, empty piece of road right ahead of me... I'll just pick up speed driving pass those morrons and shake my head...wondering why?
Infact when I'm in a rush and need to drive a little 'faster' I would normally try to stay out of the extreme right lane. Cos i dont feel as frustrated as i get caught behind a slow car on the left then on the right.
As much as i dislike a lot of taxi drivers, but i do pity most of them... its not easy to be driving on the road with that many hours and keep 100% concentration on every single situation on the road... thus that let me to my number 1 dislike drivers.... Most (not all) Mercs Drivers.
Mercs Drivers:
They bloody annoys me! most are too old to drive fast. some are born slow. only some stay on the left. and some thinks they paid road tax, thus own the roads they are driving on. Some are too rich to risk their lives driving fast. Some are too deaf to hear your horn. Some are slow to react when you're right up to their tail. And some drives like they are not drivers.
Best selling cars til last year... over taken by BMW.... lets see the next generation of BMW drivers.... and the story goes on....

Sometimes i see these road hoggers switch lanes to give way to ambulances because they have cameras installed. If they can give way to emergency vehicles, why the bloody hell they cannot give way to other vehicles?
And mostly i am blocked by cabbies; maybe we should write to the taxi companies to ask them to ask their bloody cabs to keep left.
In the states, people conciously keep left, esp in LA area. Maybe people have guns there and nobody wants to risk being shot by triggering road rage by road hogging. Maybe these road hoggers here must be taught a hard lesson.

Wat is everyone's feeling abt owning a 8 while staying in HDB ah? High risk of vandalism or not?
Thinking of getting one, but worried about HDB carpark.. not sure if parking in front of NPP will help or not.

vandalism wise, if really suay, drive wat car oso will kena...... NPP only operates during office hours... so if u parked during the night, still will kena...
having said that, my take is, if u like the car, JUZ DO IT. dun worry abt other factors.... they shld come much later.... enjoy the car 1st......
anyway many of us here stay in HDB and so far nothing has happened....
