Smashed

Damn it... my parents took the car out in the morning to buy groceries. They park at the multi-storey carpark beside Bukit Merah Interchange. When they return, the car's windscreen was smashed... revealing a hole enuf to go in to steal the cash card. But worst was... there was no cash card in the ERP unit and as there was a cover to the ERP, that stupid ******* din know and took the chance and smashed my car.... also causing a small dent in the process... F...K

After filing a report, went down Mazda svc center... was scheduled for servicing on monday.. but now have to send the car in liao.....sigh worst.. might not get it back on monday... yet to be confirmed....

Stupid idiot just to steal my cash card, smashed my windscreen.... arrgggghhhhh!!!!!

Sorry dude. My heart goes out to you and your baby 8... There has been a lot of cases of car break-ins and cashcard thefts lately. I thought about getting a cover for the ERP unit too, but concluded that it would only attract trouble coz having a cover only means you have something to hide. Still better to remove the cashcard and show them that there is nothing to steal. However, that being said, I still had my Camry broken into in Perth and lost my Palm and digicam from the center glove box. I know how you feel man...

When people get desperate, they will try anything and break into the most expensive car they can find whether there is any visible to steal or not. But that f**ker could have at least smashed a window instead of the windscreen!! A real ****!!!

Dame all these thieves!
Ohhh... that sucks big time.
Dame all these thieves!
I do have the habits of removing the cash card since the Miata days. Even though, I still got broken in once, Dame all these thieves! the nincompoop just slashed the soft top to gain access. From then, I've learned not to place any valuable in sight. It just causes us to much inconvenience.

Personally, I think putting the cover just means you have something to hide (even if you don't) and thereby making your car a big target to car thieves. The very smart 'garment' should have thought of it and made the In-vehicle unit hidden with just a remotely located sensor for the ERP gantry. My $0.02c.

Hi XtremeRev. Sorry to hear/see what happened.

U should look to claim insurance on it. Smashed windscreen so common (albeit usually cos of stones) most insurance contracts allow for multiple claims during the tenure. Other contracts provide that u have to pay on a when-u-claim basis to 'reinstate' it.

I know it's little comfort, but at least u can claim. When me previous convert was broken into, the roof was sliced open - lost me S$150 cash card.

sqflyer is right - the damn unit is just inviting trouble. Should've been hidden away. Altenative would be to do away with the silly thing & let them zap everyone - then bill at end of month. Beats smashed windscreens...

HA! HA! HA! U a funny man, Neon!

But think of it! No more ugly looking unit. No more break ins. No more worries about no or low value. No more worries about expired cash cards (YES - they DO expire).

Trouble is... what about all em carparks which now accept the blasted thing???

Hi XtremeRev, really sorry to know about your plight! Instead in hurling more vulgarities at motherf*&^er who smashed ur windscreen, I was just wondering what if MM does not have the windscreen in stock? How long does it take to indent? Maybe u should try Garage R cos I believe that if any PI is to stock the windscreen, it would be them. Although I did not buy my 8 from them, June from Garage R is one of the most professional salesperson I ever met. U may have to pay from your own pocket first but at least it cuts the downtime by at least quite a while. Do keep us posted whatever the outcome is!

Yo dru! U going to the meet???

XtremeRev: I know dru means well. But u have to check with ur insurance first. Always remember u MUST check with insurance before u proceed. Failing to do so can (technically) void your claim against/on them. Cheers & good luck!
