So long and thanks for all the fish

Hi guys,

I've decided to let go of my RX8 after only about 10 mths. It's been a great drivng experience, and it has certainly raised my expectations of all my future cars! But I'm letting go for practical reasons (seating capacity, ease of entrance for backseat passengers, boot space, height clearance etc).

It's been great knowing you guys, even though I haven't been very active in here.

Anyway, a little story before I leave... My friends always called my car the batmobile (it being black). Well, like the tragic end to all batmobiles in every Batman movie, my car got slammed by a lorry TWO DAYS before I was supposed to hand over to the dealer that is taking in my car. Was hoping to thoroughly enjoy the ride for another few days before giving it up, but now I don't even have the chance to say a proper goodbye since it's recuperating at the workshop, and will be taken over by the dealer once it's back in shape (grateful to the dealer for honouring the agreed price prior to accident). Driver of the lorry was a very apologetic foreign worker (felt quite sorry for him, kept asking me to give chance cos he's got a family back in India), but his boss was a major a**hole though, but that's another story.

Well, that's that. Will check back once in a while for old times' sake. Take care y'all

Gerald

Got myself an Audi A4 1.8T. Since the new model will be release sometime after middle next year, they've dropped the price of the car significantly. Interestingly, that was the car I was interested in prior to getting the RX8. Heh

Audi 1.8T is damm good car (Got a friend who is driving one). Full of mod potential but doesnt comes cheap though..... If not for the price I would have bought one instead of RX8

Sorry to hear abt your RX8....... Hope everything is well.

bro,

one of our ex rx8 members here work for audi sales.

she can get you a discount, that is if you have not signed the dotted line.

the A6 2.0T oso a lot of mod potential. can chip up the ecu to over 200hp

Thanks BlackEight. Unfortunately I've already signed 2 sundays ago. Just collected my car yesterday, and I have to say I'm very pleased with it! And since the last time I bought my RX8 from a PI, this time around the experience is so much more pleasant despite the accident. I'm sticking to authorised dealers henceforth!

Yes, the mod potential was a big factor for me when I got the 1.8T. 2 stage ECU mods, with the 2nd going all the way up to 240+bhp. And still covered by dealer warranty. A comfy & luxurious car, good power output, nice looks, great price... I was compltely sold :P

Congratulations on your new car! Audis are sweeeeet. Incidentally, I have a colleague who referred to my RX8 as being batmobile-like the first time he saw it too...it must be the front wheel arches.

Btw, it's pretty rare to see Douglas Adams quoted in a car forum. That was a really nice way of making your valediction...
