Stupid Question
Hi all,
got a stupid question to ask, as I really dunno how to do a search on this :
For 4AT, what's the highest rpm we can go which is within a safety range and not bust the engine?? Redline's at 9000rpm, but I get this feeling it's not advisable to push the engine to that level on a regular basis...
Thanxs in advance!

Oil Injection
The highest RPM you can safely go (at least the highest the Mazda feels you can go and not do any damage to the engine would be wherever your rev limiter kicks in (9600 for the Manual, dont know about the auto) No car maker would set a rev limiter at an rpm that will hurt the car....not just cruising around on the rev limiter is not wise, as this could overwhelm the cars cooling system, but bumping up against it now and this is no problem IMO.

Auto can hit 9k rev no problem - in every gear! Great fun :p Just flip it to tiptronic (or whatever the hell it's called)
Heard/read that tests show RX can rev to approx. 30k safely due to design of the rotary :D
Great fun to hear the red line buzzer - DING DING DING :p
Note to me insurer and potential buyer of me X - the above was NOT derived from me personal experience

from my experience if you put in tiptronic you can go higher than 7000rpm but at about 7500 there will be a fuel cut.
You can continue to drag the gear more, I have not tested the limit but the most i did was bout 8200 cause i didnt want to risk causing any permanent damage.
Torque converters dont come cheap as far as i know so if you are going to blow one, might as well do it when you FI your ride rather than purposely trying to spoil it IMHO.

But The ding sound can be get rid off by hot wiring it.
Onces its hot wired. the car will think that the seat belt is always on.
