This is my first post and most of you would think that I'm here to fan some flames.

BUT NO, I think I have been patient enough and seeing how this thread in that forum has gone onto 6 pages over 2 weeks, its about time I shared this with you. I totally feel the comments made in there were unjust, baseless and plain cocky!

Its amazing how some WRX owners have degraded themselves to that extent that they make such condescending remarks about other marques of cars. (in this case, the RX8)

I'm sure most of you are mature enough to take this with a pinch of salt, but if you want a good laugh at how childish some WRX owners these days are, please proceed here >

For those who do not have access to the forum and rather not register, I will cut and paste some comments made by those there for your viewing in my next post.

It all started with this first comment from a member there :

"Recently almost every few days there will be an RX8 tailgating or challanging me on small road or expressway.Anyone experience it or is it juz me? I used to like tat car but since I have seen their performance somehow disappointing.I rather they juz drive their car wif style."


Below are some of the comments made from various members :

1)RX8 is quite good in mid & high end. There's why very seldom they talk about launching with others. So usually they chio chio you when both car is on the move, just like Fiat Stilo.
BUT THEY UNDERMINE OUR LITTLE TURBO WHEN KICKS IN, ALSO KICK THEIR *** AWAY

2)Good car and great looks but it is more often than not, driven by posers rather than actual drivers

3)a stock wrx can outrun a rx-8 anytime of the day la. rx8 is only 4 looks nia.. performance then wrx or ebo..

4)Funny, I never had this problem. They are usually a dot in my rear view mirror.

5)RX8 is no match for WRX on open road, and I'm sure he knew that.

6)why bother? td04 can makan them already.

7)let him hear ur blow-off valve

8)Sometime I know is kind of waste of time on these ppl.
But sometime we are bored on the road & these ppl dunno whether "see us up" or "look us down" and pick us to have fun. All right!! I sure have fun!! As long as they don't regret later that the party is no fun to them

9)I mit a RX 8 tatz rally blue in colour wif Six exhaust 3 on each side Power but still.... sad to say didn't help much for him.

10)I like the look of the RX8 but not so much of the performance.
If I own a manual RX8, I will be stupid to chio the WRX.

11)Hey brothers out there. 2 days ago i got smoked by 3 RX8 travelling in a group. I was driving my TS in the 2nd lane TPE towards changi............

12)so unfriendly 3 vs u . maybe let us know e no. plate and next time our rex bros could teach them a lesson.

Good thread...looks like we're pretty popular. anyway, i guess they're juz chit chatting, similar to us complaining about used IU. fast4s, thanks for sharing...

but i'm just curious:

-what's wrong with driving a good looking car?
-how come they never compare and brag about blowing a EVO off?
-what's their shiok level comparing a 2.0 TC with a 1.3 NA?

That's the problem with alot of REXes... they always think they are highly and almighty .... ... .... sad sad..... that's why alot of them end up meeting the trees and the drains.... more sad.... be humble.

 

Some of their comments are very true indeed.

Well, I will jus say that it is at the least flattering that my ride do invoke emotions from other makes' drivers. Cool

On a side note - have we sort of profiled (at least in Singapore) a typical RX-8 owner before? (pardon me if I had missed) Would I be wrong to assume that most are rational and matured? At least I like to think that those I know, are.. Just a thot.

I think that you are right on the money. Most 8 owners are more mature and responsible. We enjoy our cars for what they are and not something that we have to show off all the time and make asses out of ourselves. I have had WRX's and STI's try to race. I just let them do there thing on the street. You can see the immaturity in there posts.

Something else I may be reading into it is they are saying WRX. Every STI owner I know calls there car an STI, not a WRX. If they want to show me how bad they are, I am willing to meet them at VIR at the next track day and compare times. As for a drag race (which it seems like that is all they want to do anyway), the 8 is not a drag car. As a matter of fact, the WRX and STI is not the best at it either.

I think that they are also missing the fact that if we wanted a WRX (or even an STI) we would have one. Just compare the prices.

Just the same point back to those jokers,

I appreciate how fast your car is, but there is more to life than fast 0-100 timing. Most of the 8 owners here know what they want and they got it.

Its true its not easy to extract massive power out of rx8 but we do not need bhp to make a statement with our car.

Not to mention any1 of us can easily buy a STI + 20k spare change for modding. So u wanna make a guess who will smoke who?

Wanna compare skills, take it to the tracks, not on Spore roads. This aint ur grandfather's road.

Of coz, if you wanna make more comical comments like "I see you as a dot in my rear mirror".
I will also see you in a niche very soon =)

On the other hand, there r scooby drivers that adores the 8...My best bud is one
of them...having driven my car...he does realise the potential of the 8 is
enormous wif the power of our chassis...our chassis is far more rigid n stiff compared
to the scooby...so he thinks our 8 ...

Though i'm pretty sad to report, the same could not be said abt his car...the chassis
felt weak, the steering lacks feedback, the turbo lag is terrible n the handling is not
entertaining at all...

So, after the test, he n I basically conclude that the best thing abt his car n the only
bad thing abt mine is the power...Oh, by the way...his car is not a base wrx...it is
an sti...Though I must say, I do have respect for his car...the power alone makes
it a monster...

oh dear....its all my fault. I should really stop making eyes at the female passengers in WRXs and STis. But I can't help it. They're so pretty and I want to touch them*. Its not my fault they look at me and my 8 what.....=p

but I swear at no point in time have I ever overtaken or tried to overtake a WRX and/or a STi. One gives credit and also gives way graciously (with all the correct indicator signals of course) where credit is due - credit being the GTi (i.e. got turbo inside, car very fast). I may have nudged slightly in front at the traffic light by 2cm, but it was because I wanted to check out the female passenger.

 

Sti...wrx....wat kind of cars are this? When I drive on the road, in front always very clear.....maybe because I left them all behind....hahahahaha

If the 8 wasn't a threat to them at all they will not bother saying such things.

They are only fast with a turbo. If the 8 has a turbo... then?

I have this friend. He drives a satria. He keeps saying he can smoke rexes, rx8s, etc. I told him 2 things. Its pointless to race people on the open roads and can his car handle the bend at the end of his "drag" race?

This topic is old. Wrx vs rx8s. We all know the value of each car.

 

Why care so much about what other people think..

But that comment about a stock wrx outrunning a rx-8... Try keeping up in the twisties...
