unichip or e-manage or re-map?
#2
Correct me if i'm wrong but this is what i know.
unichip rx-8 cannot use...
E-manage need to have the special one.. ask coupe07 i think only they carry the special type
re-map cannot tune up your air fuel ratio which is one of the important thing when you talking about tunning.

From what I have read up...unichip can be used on the rx8. Taka installed unichip on his 8 but from his writeup, it was abit disappointing. Emanage ultimate have recently released software ver 2.0 This update is suppose to address the problem faced by the earlier versions. According to mazdamaniac, emu can be used on the 8 as well and infact is now problem free. There is a way to force the ecu into open loop. As for the emu that RE uses and is said to be different from the emu that you can buy outside...well...it looks the same on the exterior but interior...i dunno. The japs like to hide hide hide...hahahaha.
Remap does tune up the afr and ignition timing. If not you pay so much money just to turn on the radiator fan early for wat? Mazsport got a cooling kit that turns on the fans early as well and prob cost a fraction of the money spend on remap. I think the ecu remap does tune up the afr and timing. But since it is not dyno tuned, my assumption is it is a target afr tune like some piggybacks or standalone with the function to auto tune to the target afr you set.
Actually...the search button is your best friend. Dun be lazy. kekeke

Unichip wise, can use, but minimal gain.
The remap, as wat coupeM says, does more than speedcut and turning on ur raditaor fan early. Ignition timing and AFR oso are tuned and optimised to NA setup.
As to wat is best, go to someone whom u deem noe ur car best.

"unichip rx-8 cannot use..." Wrong, a few local 8s are running with unichips... improvement is not a lot because at the end of the day, all are NA setup.
"E-manage need to have the special one.." Wrong, EMU as stated by CoupeM
"re-map cannot tune up your air fuel ratio" Wrong, tuning the A/F and ignition is the whole point of doing a remap, along with a couple of other side benefits.
Good that you check what you know with the rest of the guys here... we're all here to learn more about the car we love afterall.

Ha ha.. that's why I stated right from the start that it's not meant as a flame. Just seems like he got misinformed by his sources. Anyway, good that we all ask and share information so everyone can benefit from collective knowledge.

As for fuel regulator, don't even touch touch it, the 8 wankel is not like those 4 cylinders.
As for gains, its NA, not much gains, more of optimisation of the current stock ECU. You want alot of gains, go for Force Induction.
Or want more gains from NA, VTEC is the only and best option for a NA car...

Take note, exhaust system = intake, exhaust manifold, catalyser and exhaust.
If u do anything else, like meddle with the fuel pump, dun come n blame the remap like some kuku oil rep who come and blame the remap when his engine oil cannot burn in the rotary engine.....
