i apologise first for this asinine question, but i am a radio moron. Do these sets work with other users holding Motorola / other brand walkie talkies? (i.e. can the handsets from different manufacturers communicate with one another?)

Snowflake,

How can you be a radio moron???? You were in Signals leh, signals officer somemore..... Tsk tsk. Anyways, yes, the Midlands work well if other brands of walkie talkie. I have been using it during rounding and all with the club and never had any problems receiving and sending.

Heh you know i spent my time doing other things instead of signal related stuff long long itme ago....i was more interested in operating a Playstation and 32 inch cathode ray TV set outfield and playing pool (badly).

Besides, army sets can't talk to one another unless they are on different bandwidths. So the PC walkie talkies can't talk to the CO's big radio, and unless theres a switch multiplexer or some crap like that, the CO cannot use his radio set to call the Div Commander on the telephone.

well SNIX, the short answer is no. But I'll let you hire-purchase the walkie talkie if i buy one. Just leave your MX-5 as security. I"ll take good care of it.

SNIX sounds nice.. SnowWhite.. why not get the HRC or PRC vehicular 9 series.. looks cool when its mounted on your rx8. With 2 antennas sticking out... work out the individual call signs and admin net freq.

Simon, Hahaha... err, any takers for my IS250?? Mazda3 sold .. changing to Civic 1.8 (recommended by whiteX)
