warning lights appear

Hi guys,

I got something to share here. Recently i juz went to Sepang for a joy ride on the race track in my 8. I did try some drifting on the corners and notice that the DSC symbol appearing on and off during the drift. After that when heading back to Singapore, i found some of the warning lights appear during the drive (DSC, ABS, HANDBRAKE). The lights went away after i switch off my engine and restart again.

Juz curious, did anyone encounter this before????????

I thought it would more fun to learn with the DSC off when you bring the car down to the track.
In that way, you would be able to learn the basic steer response from the car without the DSC taking control of it. I'd be surprise even if you could do much drifting with the DSC on.

Not exactly the same problem but I've had my oil lamp switched on when doing around 110 or so for an extended period of time. On both occassions I had checked my oil before the trip. I know that in Japan mazda had a problem with this & they offered free servicing / fixing for this issue. On my recent trip there I found that my car also came under this bracket. obviously nothing can be done here but am getting this checked out. Im sure others who might have had their cars imported from japan MIGHT run into the the same problem

LAST PROBLEM FIRST. THE OIL LIGHT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BAFFLES IN THE OIL PAN ON SOME CARS. THE FIX IS A NEW OIL PAN. oops sorry about the all capitals.

now as for "I did try some drifting on the corners and notice that the DSC symbol appearing on and off during the drift"

that is supposed to happen. any time the dsc engages (as it undoubtly would when drifting) the light comes on and then goes of when the dsc goes off. the other lights probably came on as a result of the prolonged dsc engagement. to stop this from happening in the future turn of your dsc by holding down the dsc off button for 8 seconds. this fully disables the dsc until the next time you start the car. abs will still work.

P7&8, looks like yours is the fist one here to have this oil light issue. Have you checked with your dealer? Let us know the outcome, thanks!

Something for all to keep in mind. As i said, only have had the probelm when on long drives above say 120 or so & RPM . 5-6k for an extended period of time. If others have also had their cars imported from Japan, it may be worth checking, depending on the batch . Zoom 44 is right. it is the oil pan problem & as I said Mazda In japan were offering FREE servicing. Im still in the process of finding out what to do here in Sing. Will keep you posted
