Exclamation What is this Warning Light!??

Hi fellow Rotary owners,

In the past 3 weeks, there is this warning light appearing on and off... i sent it to my mechanic and they said its coolant and fixed it, but the lights cam back again (on and off)

Any idea what is the problem and how can i get it fix?

See attached pic.

Tks,
princess8

the birdcage icon; I think it means coolant level is low
happened to me once, went away after I topped up water in the coolant tank (be careful not to top up too much)
some of the guys had to change the coolant tank or the sensor to fix this problem but I also heard one guy always had this warning on all the time

Hi, common prob in our 8 cos the float in the tank tends to crack, causing water to leak into the float and hence causing the intermittent warning signs and apparently, theres 3 solutions

1) bo chap the light, jus check the coolant light frequently (like once weekly) to prevent overheating

2) change the entire tank and damage is abt $250 - $300 (not veri sure though)

3) simply unplug the sensor connector of the coolant tank at the engine bay to permanently get rid of the light and then just like point 1, check once a week for topup. (i'm using this method currently )

Yes i had some rx-8 having these same problems...... seems to be default problems on the coolant level sensors.

ok if the warning keep showing do replace them... not that serious problem but it irritatyes the eye.....

well good luck!

yo sis no worries about this...mine has come on PERMANENTLY...all ya have to do is just monitor your coolant levels manually once every 2 weeks can already... just ensure they do not drop below the marker on the side of the resevoir tank and u'll be safe

like some bros have mentioned already it's a sensor issue...not necessary to change unless u buay tahan hahaha
